All Bachchan affair at IIFA

It looks like there will be no glitter and glamour at the 10th International Indian Film Academy (Iifa) Awards to be held at Macau this year. Several stars that were set to perform are slowly excusing themselves from performing. The Iifa, like 2008, is again going to be a Bachchan family affair.

Kareena has been reported to have backed out of the award ceremony even after getting her costumes ready. The reason — she wanted to spend some quality time with her beau Saif Ali Khan who’s in England to promote his movie Love Aaj Kal at the T20 World Cup. As for Akshay Kumar, he wants to spend time with his children in the US.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan said that they pulled out due to their shooting commitments. It was reported earlier that they backed out because of Amitabh Bachhan — the brand ambassador of Iifa.

While SRK is busy shooting for My Name is Khan, Salman is busy with his home production Veer. Salman was to perform at Iifa to promote his upcoming movie, Wanted: Dead and Alive this year.

Shahid Kapur, who had also planned to promote Kaminey with a solo act, now says that he won’t be able to join the Iifa celebrations either. Shahid in a statement said, “I was looking forward to performing, but my commitment to my producer has to be honoured.”

While Shahid was supposed to have performed with Priyanka Chopra, his performance became a solo act after Priyanka dropped out citing prior commitments.

Whatever the reasons, the Iifa Awards this year will certainly be out of a lot of stars, and industry insiders are already deeming the ceremony “a Bachhan family tea party” for the second consecutive year.
