Make a splash in the rain with these accessories
Electrifying neons
’Tis the season of raincoats and umbrellas. Maybe you’ve already got a few in yummy colours, but the electrifying neons of the Eighties are upon us. So, if you spot a raincoat in electric pink, green, blue, BUY IT!
The same holds true for foot wear too. Remember those colourful, semi-transparent jelly sandals worn by little girls with pink ribbons? Uber stylish shoe brands, like Jimmy Choo, have launched these for the big girls too. Don’t spend big bucks on these; just pick them from the streets to add a dash of play.
Don’t buy a cutesy little umbrella that fits into your hand-bag, super size umbrellas are doing the rounds - the bigger, the better! Include a transparent bag in a neon shade (yes it should match your raincoat), in your list of monsoon essentials and you are good to go.
Bead-y tales
Stylist Pria Agni says, “Aqua coloured glass beads and bangles are the perfect accessories for monsoons. They are colourful, trendy, stain free and can be teamed with almost anything.”
And, the good news is you can get them for a steal from any roadside accessories stall. Funky translucent glass bangles cost anywhere between Rs 30-40 bucks and don’t pay more than Rs 200 for beaded neck pieces.
Pria suggests - keep your beads really long so that they touch your belly-button or even a little longer!
Croc-a-doodle-doo
Now, now maybe you are a member of the ‘I hate crocs club’ on Facebook, but crocs are made for the monsoons. They can challenge any puddle, and are so comfy that your feet can sleep in them!
You’ve GOT To check out the newest versions that have hit the shops. Along with those massive pores variety, there are trendy thong sandals and slip-ons with a few extra inches for the style conscious.
Pria notes, “A lot of people ask me if crocs look stupid. Of course they’ll look stupid with saris and salwars. You can wear them with jeans, capris shorts and they make you feel young again because they are so colourful. I am 40 but when I wear crocs, I feel like a teen again!”
Your shoe umbrella
So, you are one of those who believe that stilettos are your birthright, and you’ve got to flaunt them come hail or storm. We say, go ahead and wear stilettos these monsoons. No kidding!
