Bar-coded tokens for ‘fish prasadam’, which will be given by Bathini brothers, will be available from Thursday to Sunday at Exhibition Grounds, Imlibun Bus Station and tahsildar offices at Secunderabad and Amberpet.
The tokens will be available between 8.30 a.m. and 6 p.m., said Hyderabad Collector Navin Mittal in a press release on Tuesday. The ‘prasadam’ will be distributed on Monday at Exhibition grounds and about 1.5 lakh murrel fish will be made available for patients, he said.
State faulted
Meanwhile, popular science organisations have attacked the State government for lending support to Bathini Harinath Goud and Bathini Srinivas Goud.
The ‘fish prasadam’ is not only unscientific, but also unsafe, said T.V. Rao, State president of Jana Vignana Vedika.
Studies conducted by the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences and Vimta Labs have confirmed that the ‘prasadam’ cannot cure asthma, he said at a conference conducted by Jana Chaitanya Vedika (JCV), here on Tuesday.
“The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) recognised 70 cureless diseases and asthma is one of them,” he said. Putta Srinivas, president of A.P. Government Doctor’s Association criticised Bathini brothers for their reluctance to put their ‘prasadam’ through clinical trails to substantiate its medicinal values. Chairman of State Task Force for Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme, M. Sravan Kumar challenged the medical viability of the ‘prasadam’.
