To catch a plane, take helicopter

If you have the moolah but not the time to reach the airport, this service is just right for you. Turbo Aviation, in collaboration with the Hyderabad International Trade Expositions Limited, has begun the city’s first helicopter service.

The service, launched in Monday, is based at Hitex in Madhapur. Apart from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, passengers can also hire the helicopter to fly to the Begumpet airport. Turbo Aviation has two Robinson R-44 Raven II helicopters, each of which can take seven passengers. It has secured permission from the Union civil aviation ministry for night flights. The service charges each passenger Rs 3,800 from Hitex to the Shamshabad airport.

The company is yet to come out with details on providing support facilities such as pick up and drop. The Hitex chief operating officer, Mr Sanjay Kapoor, and the Turbo Aviation managing director, Mr Umesh, who inaugurated the service, said it would save a lot of time. The helicopter can be hired for tourism, and there will also be joy rides.
