The volatile situation in the Telangana region has forced the state government to delay the announcement of the schedule for Eamcet, Icet, Edcet and other common entrance tests.
“We cannot announce the schedule for CETs at this moment. The situation is tense in Telangana region due to student agitations. Unless the situation improves, we cannot think of coming out with the schedule for CETs,” said Prof K.C. Reddy, the chairman of the AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).
Normally, the APSCHE announces the schedule for CETs in November every year. It entrusts the responsibility to conduct each CET to various universities.
Though there will be no change in giving the responsibility of conducting the Eamcet to JNTU-Kukatpally, which has been conducting the exam for over a decade, there will be modifications in conducting
the other CETs such as Icet for MBA, MCA admissions and Edcet for B.Ed admissions.
The universities are concerned with the delay as they need to plan their semester exams based on the schedule announced for common entrance tests (CETs).
Once the job of conducting a particular CET is entrusted, the university concerned needs to make arrangements a few months in advance.
Most of the faculty is engaged in the process, from inviting applications, processing, hall tickets, preparation of question papers, identifying exam centres, valuation of answer scripts and announcement of results.
