CBI To Start Arrests In Jagan, Emaar Case?

The CBI team, probing the alleged illegal assets of YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and Emaar Properties scam, made a sudden appearance at the State Secretariat and met the Chief Secretary S V Prasad.

This triggered speculation that the senior IAS officer and the Home Secretary B P Acharya could be arrested anytime for his role in the Emmar scam.

Emerging from the meeting, the CBI Joint Director V V Lakshminarayana said that they had sought certain files pertaining to eight government departments including Industries, Mining and Revenue.

“We have submitted a written request for the files in connection with the ongoing investigation,” the CBI official said.

He dropped enough hints that some arrests could take place soon. It is said that the federal investigating agency has sought permission to examine the laptops of some senior bureaucrats for an in-depth of assessment of the decisions on land allotments to certain companies.

The CBI team sought full cooperation of the Chief Secretary and his officials in the investigation ordered by the High Court.

The process of examination of the document and establishing a link between the favours doled out during the YSR regime and the quid quo pro investments into Jagan’s business ventures was almost complete, the source say.

There is also intense speculation about the possible arrest of Jagan in connection with the disproportionate assets.
