Twenty-year-old Nishita was in bed with John, her boyfriend of six months, for the first time. She was excited but was also worried. "When I asked him to put on a condom, he refused. It completely spoiled the mood and we didn't even do it after that!" she complains.
Nishita did the right thing by insisting on safe sex. But many men can be jerks like John and refuse. What do you do when you're really in the mood for some naughty fun and he acts difficult? Read on....
Make a game of it
Be playful and make putting on a condom part of your foreplay.
"I often perform a striptease for my boyfriend. It ends with him getting a blowjob. After that, I sexily slide the condom on for him and it's party time!" says Neelam Gokhale, a 24-year-old hairdresser.
Use fun condoms
"I buy all kinds of condoms - condoms that glow in dark or the flavoured kind that inspires me to engage in oral sex. Plus, there are vibrating condoms that give me more pleasure," says 28-year-old Simmi Singh, a teacher. Her husband is more than happy to assist her in this experimenting!
Get cute
"I carry condoms in this frog-shaped can. When I pull out the condom, guys find it so cute they end up laughing and don't say no," says 26-year-old Reema Bhuven, a psychologist. She says that there are condom holder anklets, wrist straps, key chains, pouches and cubes available in the market.
Refuse to sleep with him!
A woman should be adamant about protection. Anita Dave who has had multiple partners says most men are usually not that inconsiderate, "But saying no to sex without protection works. If he is really interested in getting into bed with you, a refusal will prompt him to wear a condom," says the 27-year-old.
Scaring avoids daring
Tell him what could happen if he doesn't wear a condom. The scare of a sexually transmitted disease and an unwanted baby may work where your persuading abilities haven't!
"Condoms protect against sexually transmitted infections if used properly. There is also a 97% protection against pregnancy," says Dr Ketan Parmar, a sexologist.
You know you are going to have more fun in safe hands. So don't let the lack of condom ruin the fun!
