The additional director-general of police, Mr M. Ratan, has said the allegations that the cricket administrator, Mr V Chamundeswarnath, had sent foul SMSes to women cricketers are true.
Mr Ratan, who investigated the charges of sexual harassment against Mr Chamundeswarnath, submitted his report to the director-general of police, Mr S.S.P. Yadav. “We will take appropriate action on the report,” the DGP said.
Mr Ratan’s report will be used as evidence in the case against Mr Chamundeswarnath under Section 509 IPC (a word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) booked by the Vijayawada police based on complaint by women cricketers.
The SMSes included those which allegedly said “Call me when your alone.” The report will be sent to the Vijayawada police where a case has been registered against Mr Chamundeswarnath.
