Two software engineers died in a road accident on the Punjagutta flyover late on
Saturday night.
The mishap occurred at around 1 am when a Tata Indica proceeding from Begumpet to Mehdipatnam rammed into a two-wheeler coming on the wrong route on the one-way flyover at Monappa Island.
There were three persons on the two-wheeler. According to police, the bikers got onto the flyover near Begumpet and for some reason took a U-turn near Monappa Island and began heading back on the wrong route to Begumpet.
Suresh, 27, of Shyamlal Building, Sameer, 28, of Mehdipatnam, died in the accident. Anantaswamy, 27, of Raidurgam suffered severe injuries and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Vijayawada.
Suresh and Sameer were working as software engineers at a company in Madhapur. Anantaswamy is into real estate business.
When the car rammed into the bike at Monappa Island, Suresh, who was sitting at the rear end of the bike, fell off the flyover and died on the spot. Sameer, who was driving the bike, suffered injuries on his legs and stomach. He was declared brought dead at a nearby hospital.
Police are trying to track the Indica car driver who is absconding. A case was registered against him under section 304-A (Causing death due to rash or negligent act) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
