7 new cases of swine flu in AP

Seven confirmed cases of swine flu were reported from Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, a health official said here.

With this, the total number of H1N1 infections in the state has shot up to 116, Ms Jayakumari, the district health and medical officer (DHMO) said here.

She said 92 samples were tested on Tuesday. Twenty-three confirmed cases are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

Meanwhile, Mr S.V. Prasad, the superintendent of the AP Chest Hospital, said of the seven new positive cases, four have been admitted to the government-run medical facility. This includes a two-year-old girl and her 34-year-old father, Mr Prasad said.

A 26-year-old critically ill H1N1 patient, undergoing treatment at the hospital, is recovering, he added.
