
The Iskcon Temple at Rayapura here is all decked up to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami on Friday, the eighth day in the month of Bhadon according to Hindu calendar. Elaborate arrangements have been made for various types of pujas and cultural programmes.
The pujas in the illuminated temple will begin at 4 am with `mangala arati' for Sri Krishna and Balarama. Then the deities, adorned in special `vrindavan alankar' with dress and ornaments, will be open for darshan of devotees till 12 midnight.
Krishnotsava, a fancy dress competition for children, will begin at 10 am. Children dressed in various avatars of Lord Krishna and Radha may participate. Traditional dances depicting the pastimes of Lord Krishna, classical dance, bhajans, folk dance, yakshagana and concerts will be held in the evening.
NWKRTC will run special buses from Hubli and Dharwad to the temple for the benefit of devotees.
