Niece killed NRI family for ‘insurance’ money

The city police on Wednesday arrested K. Madhavi Devi, an employee of ICICI Insurance, and her husband, John Abraham, for the brutal murder of an NRI family in a lodge in Secunderabad last Thursday.
Two students were also arrested for helping the couple and police recovered cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones from their possession.
Madhavi, daughter of a Vizag SI, was the niece of Kadali Prasad, who was murdered in the early hours of August 21 along his wife, Mrs Vijayalakshmi, 42, son Ketan, 11, and nine-year-old daughter, Kavita, in the RAK Royal Lodge.
Investigators found that she had cheated Mr Prasad over an insurance policy worth Rs 20 lakh and had killed him, with help from her husband and friends to prevent the truth from getting out.
Mr Prasad was insisting that she repay the money he had paid her as premium or the assured insurance amount of Rs 80 lakh. Madhavi, who is five months pregnant, asked him to come to the lodge promising to pay him Rs 80 lakh there, but instead strangled him.
