OU protesters force 2 professors to quit

Two professors from the Osmania University geology department submitted their resignations on Monday after about 30 girl students complained to university officials that the professors were “harassing” them.
Students lodged a complaint with the University Science College principal that Dr A.P. Siva Kumar, head of department, and Dr T. Sirish Chandra, chairman, board of studies, were “mentally harassing” them.
The students alleged that the professors smoked in the classroom and frequently “abused” them.
ABVP activists barged into the offices of the professors and reportedly found cigars and ganja there.
“Even I found cigars in their desk,” said the principal, Mr Janardhan Reddy. “Smoking is banned on the campus. I have warned them even before,” he said, adding he would discuss the issue with the vice-chancellor.
The professors said the ABVP was blackmailing them for not giving a research scholarship to one of the activists. “These allegations are false,” said Dr Sirish Chandra.
