Engineering admissions last date extended to September 14

The last date for reporting to the colleges for engineering and pharmacy admissions has been extended to September 14 while the second phase would begin two days after that.

APSCHE chairman K.C. Reddy said that the earlier given date of September 11 has been extended to September 14 to give additional time to students. The second phase would be held from September 16 to 23 and more than 11,000 seats would be offered for admission. He said 3,720 seats from 15 new colleges would be added while 2,940 seats have been increased in the existing colleges in various streams.

Prof. Reddy said the council has so far received 539 complaints of which four were purely personal seeking change of seat for family reasons. The remaining complaints were looked into and none of them is found to be genuine where software or allotment process can be questioned. Among the 535 complaints, 29 were cases of rankers below 40,000 not securing seats. Another 473 were above 40,000 ranks and failed to get a seat. All these candidates gave only a few options and thus lost a chance to get admission. On complaints of excess fee collection by college managements, Prof. Reddy said students need to pay only Rs. 5,500 special fee apart from the tuition fee. He asked the students to lodge complaint with the APSCHE if colleges collect excess fee under any pretext.

Meanwhile, students started reporting at the colleges despite the short time given to them. In majority colleges 70 per cent of students reported and by Friday the number is likely to increase. “We are expecting nearly 90 per cent admissions by Friday,” said Rajeshwar Reddy, General Secretary of A.P. Private Engineering Colleges Managements Association.
