Vijender storms into World Boxing semis, ensures bronze medal
Olympic bronze medalist and top seed Vijender Singh stormed into the World Boxing Championships semi-finals after beating Ukraine's Sergiy Derevyanchenko 12-4 in the quarter-finals.
More than a year after he broke India's Olympic jinx in boxing, Vijender Singh ensured country's maiden World Championship medal after advancing to the semi-finals with a one-sided win in Milan, Italy.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Olympic bronze medal-winning middle weight (75kg) pugilist, who is seeded number one in the event, entered the last-eight stage with a 4-2 win over Canadian Steve Rolls.
