Sakkath fests maga

A college-version of Roadies, a pani puri eating competition and even a sponge throwing contest — today’s college fests organise fun and hatke events which provide absolute entertainment for students.

One such event was the recently-held ‘AT Roadies 1.0’, PESIT’s version of MTV Roadies, held as part of their college fest Atmatrisha. The two-day event comprised eight rounds including stress interview, zorbing and river rafting. “In the zorbing event, one person had to go inside a zorb ball and his team member had to push it,” says mechanical student Vikram BK, one of the organisers of the event. Other rounds included selling lime juice on the campus, river rafting and performing street plays. “We even had vote outs. The event saw 140 participants. The two finalists were made to eat raw chilies and drink a strong neem decoction,” adds Vikram.

The ‘Gluttony’ event at Mount Carmel College’s fest Cul-ah was a lip-smacking one, with participants from different colleges competing with each other to eat the maximum number of pani puris. “I was challenged to eat something that I love to eat! The winner ate around 18 pani puris in a minute,” says Carmelite Khushali M.

RVCE’s upcoming Biotech fest Helix will see a similar event called Hogathon. The first round will have a pani puri eating competition and for the second round, they will have samosas. “The next round will have fruit salad with ice cream and the final round will have pizzas,” says biotech student Nitya Maria. The fest will also see events like Tech Taboo which is taboo with ‘tech-related’ terms and also Counter Strike. The college’s recently-held fest Impulse had a treasure hunt in which Nitya and her friends took part. “We had to crack a clue, look for the code and report at the desk where we would be given the next clue. It was so much fun,” she adds.

Journalism students at Christ University had their share of fun at the fest Imprint in which they had a Live Reporting event. “We were presented with a small movie clip and after watching it, we had to narrate what was going on,” says first year journalism student Sanjana Kumar. Another entertaining event was the paper dress-making competition where the students were given newspapers to dress up a person, reveals Sanjana.

If you thought law students had mundane fests, then you should know about NLSIU’s fest Legala, which saw exciting events like the How I Met Your Mother quiz and Gossip Girl quiz. “We also had a sponge throwing competition where contestants had to choose a human target and throw sponges at the person’s face from a distance of 10 metres,” says Bhargavi Raman, second year student at NLSIU.

Here’s to some ‘fest’ive masti!
