Legislators T.G. Venkatesh, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy and Mayor S. Raghurami Reddy paid tributes to founder of Andhra Pradesh State Potti Sriramulu by anointing the statue with milk in old city on Thursday.
The leaders organised the programme in protest against the desecration of the statue of Potti Sriramulu by TRS activists in Telangana.
They said Potti Sriramulu was a great source of inspiration for the people of Telugu-speaking region.
For that matter, he did not work against the interests of any group, especially Telengana.
They said the TRS leaders developed intolerance without any valid reason against the leaders of yesteryears. They wondered how Potti Sriramulu harmed the interests of Telangana or any other region of the State.
Congress leader S.V. Mohan Reddy, Deputy Mayor Abdul Razak and others were present.
