Sarah Palin invents word in Twitter gaffe

US's glamorous politician Sarah Palin is in the news again - this time, for apparently trying to invent new words while tweeting about plans to build a mosque near the 'Ground Zero' site in New York.

The former Republican vice-presidential candidate, who often uses the micro-blogging site Twitter to communicate her views, made three attempts before writing an error-free entry which can only contain 140 characters.

In her first effort, she asked "peaceful Muslims" to "pls refudiate" the mosque.

Having invented a word, in her second attempt she used "refute" incorrectly, calling on "peaceful New Yorkers to refute the Ground Zero mosque plan". Both those messages were removed from her page, though not before being salvaged by US news websites. The third attempt remains.

By way of explanation for her errors, the former Alaska governor posted a fourth "tweet" that said "English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too", the media reported.

The substance of her messages prompted a strong response - on Twitter - from an aide to Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York.

Andrea Batista Schlesinger tweeted: "@SarahPalinUSA mind your business" and in a second entry implied that Palin was "racist". Both messages were later removed from her page after media enquiries to New York city hall.

Aamir's name hunting on twitter

Mere announcement of his film’s progress makes waves. His ways of promoting films make news for their innovation. He is after all Aamir Khan.

So it came as a surprise when the otherwise reclusive Aamir decided to join the miocroblogging site Twitter and that too on the insistence of Amitabh Bachchan. “At dinner with Aamir... coaxing him to come on Twitter. Success come to those that dare and act!! Convinced the inconvincible Aamir over dinner to come on Twitter,” Bachchan posted on his Twitter account.

So, it is not a secret anymore that Aamir will be on Twitter on July 1.
But the already existing Twitter handles in his name don’t leave our man with much choice. So what handle does he use?

With all possible permutations and combinations of his name already floating on the microblogging site, we got our thinking hats on and asked the public at large to help him. Clearly there aren’t many names (based on the combinations of his initials, his birth date, films, banner etc) left. We give him a few options, based on various aspects of his life, that he could possibly use as his Twitter handle. (See lower box on right).

Twitter or no Twitter, it seems that if you announce your arrival too soon, toh naam gum jayega!
