Chetan Bhagat hasn’t let go of the 3 Idiots controversy

Looks like Chetan Bhagat hasn’t let go of the 3 Idiots controversy, where he raised a stink over not getting opening credits in the film, which was based on his book Five Point Someone.

3 Idiots, produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and scripted by Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi, picked up the Filmfare Award for Best Story, among five others, last evening. In response to a tweet, “Hope you are doing ok! You need lots of courage!”, he said, “I'm fine, you guys with me.” He added, “Heard they didn't even say thanks. Krishna is watching. They took home the trophy. I took home the love. What's better?” On a philosophical note, he remarked, “Bad things happen to you, to make you realise your true potential, strength, will power, and heart.”

The writer also seems to have a new object of affection — Katrina Kaif. He’s been finding the actress’ hoardings for a soft drink commercial “absolutely stunning”. He commented, “It's more the photography, her face in black and white and a splash of mango color for the drink. Striking amongst the hoarding clutter.” Watch out, Chetan, you don’t want Salman Khan finding out about this one!

Ex-wife supports Aamir

Reena Dutta, Aamir Khan’s ex-wife was there at the premiere of his latest release. Wonder why no lensmen focussed on her? A source says that everyone was so busy trying to see if fireworks would fly between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan that all other guests who put in an appearance that evening paled into inconsequential wallflowers.

However, one guest noticed Reena make an unobtrusive entry to the event with her teenage-son Junaid. She even wished her ex-husband and sat down to watch the film. Reena doesn’t come to events at Aamir’s home.

However, she encourages her children Junaid and Ira to spend time with their father. She also has no problems about the fact that her children have found a great comfort level with Kiran Rao, Aamir’s current wife.

But, whenever there is a momentous occasion in Aamir's life, like the premiere of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, a film that introduced Aamir’s nephew Imran Khan or now his latest film premiere, Reena is there a picture of quiet dignity, lending support silently. Obviously, no one wants to talk about it. However, one of Aamir’s closest friends says, “He respects Reena tremendously. And, he is moved that she is always there lending support to him when he has an important moment in life. Aamir is eternally grateful to Reena for this.”

Kareena gets close to the top

Blockbuster 3 Idiots is already on its way to breaking all records. And while Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi have been fantastic in the movie, Kareena Kapoor also managed to hold ground with her pivotal role.

There is no denying the fact that most landmark films from the past year have been graced by Kareena’s presence. Playing the feisty medical student Pia in 3 Idiots, she steals your heart right from her first scene.

A source says, “Kareena has worked with all the Khans from the film industry in 2009. This was her first film with Aamir and her role was endearing. She has done Kurbaan, Jab We Met and now 3 Idiots with equal panache. She has managed to create a mark just as Sridevi, Madhuri and Kajol have.”

Recently, even Aamir was heard singing Kareena’s praises. “She is outstanding — an instinctive actress, extremely committed and a team player. We got along well. And she’s good looking! What more can one ask for?” he said.

With five big budget movies in her kitty in 2010, Kareena Kapoor is still the queen in Bollywood.

Chetan Bhagat, 3 Idiots' team in story credit row

`3 Idiots' may be creating box-office history. But all's certainly not well between Chetan Bhagat, the author of the book from which the movie has been adapted, and its hero Aamir Khan, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani.

An `idiotic' controversy has broken out over accusations of credit poaching. The film credits the story to Abhijat Joshi and Hirani. Bhagat's name appears at the film's end.

Bhagat is miffed that the film does not give him due credit. Khan claims that Bhagat is trying to take away the credit from the film's scriptwriter, Joshi. Agencies have quoted the actor as saying that he has advised Chopra and Hirani to file a case against Bhagat as he has defamed them with "false" allegations.
