Kovvur MLA back in jail after medical check

Telugu Desam MLA T.V. Rama Rao was shifted from the Central Jail at Rajahmundry to Government General Hospital (GGH) here on Thursday morning to ascertain his health condition following a fresh complaint of chest pain. He was sent back to Rajahmundry jail after doctors found nothing wrong with his heart.

Mr. Rao told jail officials in the early hours of Thursday that he was suffering from chest pain. However, the GGH doctors here ruled out any heart ailment after conducting some tests and discharged him at 2 p.m.

GGH superintendent MBR Sarma told The Hindu that Mr. Rao had no problem related to the heart and was kept under observation for sometime before performing the tests. The vital parameters of Mr. Rao were good.

On receiving the green signal from the doctors, the police shifted the MLA back to jail along with his wife Sesharatnam who accompanied him. Speaking to the electronic media at Rajahmundry, Mr. Rao alleged that doctors stated that he was in good health out of fear that they might lose jobs in the event of their reporting that he was suffering from an ailment.
Constables suspended

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Y. Nagi Reddy suspended two constables for allowing the ambulance in which Mr. Rao was being brought to Kakinada, to stop twice at Rangampeta and Surampalem. The first halt was purportedly meant to have refreshments.

The vehicle was stopped for the second time to allow an unauthorised person, said to be the MLA’s relative, to travel to Kakinada.
