AR Rahman receives Doctorate from Anna University

A special convocation ceremony was held at Anna University, in keeping with the birth centenary of late Chief Minister Annadurai, and it was here that AR Rahman received an honorary doctorate, along with Deputy Chief Minister MK Stalin and Indian Space Research Organisation scientist M Annadurai. The event was attended by the State’s leading politicians and eminent people in the field of Education.

In his speech at the event, Dr Anandhakrishnan, a former Vice Chancellor of the University and currently Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Kanpur and IIT Rajasthan, he stressed upon the fact that the university should be able to function without the intervention of the political influence. AR Rahman paid tribute to the synergies between music and technology, while also dedicating the awards he has thus far earned globally for Slumdog Millionaire, to engineers and their contribution towards the development of technology in every sphere. MK Stalin for his part insisted that Indian Universities should come up with more innovative new age teaching techniques that focussed on the students.
