NRI victim had bought 60 acres

Police investigation into the murder of the NRI family at a city lodge has thrown up the name of one Jayaraj.
Sleuths are verifying whether he was one among the missing men. Police is also probing into the role of lodge employees and those staying in adjacent rooms, including one Anand.
Investigators are also looking into the property dispute angle. They found out that Mr Kadali Prasad, the murdered NRI, purchased around 60 acres of land along with his friend and the dispute may have led to the killing.
It is learnt that Mr Prasad’s family had initially stayed in Park Lane Hotel in Secunderabad and moved to the RAK Royal Lodge at 7 pm on August 20.
“There were eight people including the three men, three women and two kids,” said Mr Stephen Thyagarajan, manager of the lodge.
“Around 4 am on August 21, two men and women left saying they had to pick another couple waiting at the railway station. But they didn’t return.”
The lodge staff got suspicious after foul smell started emanating from the rooms. The owner of the lodge, Mr Aleem, peeped through the ventilator and saw the bodies. “Then we called the police,” said Mr Thyagarajan. Police found that the four bodies bore strangulation marks and Mr Prasad had a head injury.
The suspects had booked the rooms in the name of K. Prasad of Badangipet in Vijayawada. However, the address turned out to be spurious.
Investigators said the killers had used chilly powder to mislead the dog squad. “This has increased our suspicion that someone in the lodge may have some connection with the murder,” said a forensic official.
Mr Prasad was a native of Medicharlapalem village in East Godavari district. He went to Dubai almost 15 years ago.
It was a double tragedy for Kadali Prasad’s family in 10 days. Prasad, who was supposed to fly back to Dubai on August 14 along with his family, cancelled his trip after his sister’s son Sriram committed suicide at Nandyal Nandi Pipes Badminton Academy on August 12. Sriram, son of Mr B. Vijay Kumar, ended his life in the sports academy in Nandyal in Kurnool district.
