Throw a fun Navratri bash!

navratri2b.jpg
Navratri’s here. It’s that time of the year when relatives come visiting and you have to play mommy’s miss goody two shoes assistant in dishing out the refreshments and mithai. Here’s how you can have your own share of fun.
Throw a Navratri bash! That's right. Be the first one to throw a Navratri bash and rock at it. The theme
Fusion of course. For the décor you can use colourful dupattas, stoles and scarves as drapes across your place. Put up neon bulbs instead of candles and diyas. Voila! Your place is ready to host a party. You obviously know that the furniture needs to be moved, don't you?
The music
Stick to dandiya but play the trance-induced remix instead. The plus: You can move to trance tunes alone or with a partner. Remixed cds of Falguni Phatak numbers will have everyone on their toes. Introduce your guests to the game of grab a partner. Here, the person without a partner grabs another person’s partner and so on and so forth… Grab already!
The dress code
Team a sexy backless choli with jeans or a gypsy skirt. Complete the outfilt with a stole or a scarf and you’re ready to go! Add on to the happy hippy meets traditional diva look by mix and matching bangles and chandelier earrings. Kurtis and jeans are still in vogue. But, this time get creative and go for bright coloured tunics and backless sequined tops.
Get on to your funky side and get some festival inspired body art done. Go for a feiry picture of  goddess durga and floor your grandmom!
The drinks!
Line up shots. That’s the best way to get your guests to serve themselves at your party. Pani puri shots with vodka in them are simply super! Try mixing other fun combos like whiskey with nimbu pani and rum with coconut water. These are guaranteed to give your guests a heady rush.
The food
It will be a good idea to have a line-up of starters. This will save you from thinking up a main course menu. Also with finger foods or starters, your guest would be at ease and have the most fun. They can just grab a bite on the go and get dancing again! It will be a good idea to have aloo tikki chaats, chicken tikkas, rolls and kebabs as part of the menu.
What are you waiting for? Send out the invites and get started already!
