The Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor-starrer Main Aur Mrs Khanna may have not done well at the box office but the film has now apparently been a huge hit at the Direct-To-Home (DTH) space. The film has so far had the higest viewership rating on DTH and has grossed over Rs 21 crores. It may be recalled that UTV had sold the satellite rights of the film within three days of the release of the film in theatres.
With this success, several producers are now considering the release of their films on DTH soon after the theatre release. Recently Aamir Khan was also apparently considering the move with 3 Idiots on DTH.
Director Prem Soni remarks, “It’s a delight to know that Main Aur Mrs Khanna is a huge success on DTH. It’s a new beginning for Indian films as as DTH has become as good a territory and I am happy that my film has scored such big figures. I am glad that my film has now set a benchmark.”
