The much-awaited One-Day International between India and Sri Lanka scheduled to be held here on December 18 has been put off with the officials of the Andhra Cricket Association and Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association making an announcement on Monday.
The officials held several rounds of discussions with the members of the joint action committee leading the current Unified Andhra agitation and the political leaders during the last two days and were finally convinced that the match could not be organised in a volatile atmosphere.
The match will now be played in Nagpur.
“After hectic deliberations with members of
the ACA, organising committee and the local police, we came to a conclusion that the match cannot be held and informed the BCCI about the helpless situation,” the ACA president, Mr G. Ganga Raju said.
