Creativity is the name of the game when it comes to cinema and a lot goes through while finalizing the title for a film. However, it is being noticed that there has been a significant dip in the quality of the titles being put for Telugu films. Most of the times, the makers are playing it safe by coming up with English titles.
Comparing it with the neighbouring Kollywood circuit, it is rather shameful. For instance, the Telugu movie ‘Love Failure’ has been neatly titled as ‘Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi’. The question is, why English??? Just like Kollywood, there should be entertainment tax waiver if the title is in Telugu.
Only then such titles will not work. Of course, if that entertainment tax waiver was there then maybe we would have seen flicks being named in a rather unusual way like ‘Angarakshakudu (Bodyguard)’ ‘Idhi Naa Prema Katha (IMLS)’ ‘Oh Naa Snehituda (Oh My Friend)’ ‘Moodu Debbalu (Teen Maar)’ etc. What are your thoughts on this folks?
