'Sania To Play With Shoaib's 'Bat'!'
Well, after a lot of toss and shot, the much talked about marriage finally took place and that gave the media folks some time to breathe.
Yes, we are talking about the much hyped and sensation creating marriage of Sania Mirza and Shoaib Mallik. If that is not sensation enough, here is something that is bound to throw you off your chair. There is a famous Telugu saying which goes “Vaallu Veellu Ayyaarata” and right now that is happening with the newly wed couple.
It is heard that Shoaib has begun to change his attention from cricket to tennis and is playing with Sania’s bat and balls while the Hyderabad girl has drifted from tennis to cricket. She is said to be playing with Shoaib’s bat and trying to catch as many balls as she can. Whether it is just the heat of the just happened marriage or whether it is the act to satisfy each other by playing with bat and balls, it has been causing many to raise an eyebrow.
As it is, the dilemma still continues whether Sania is going to play for India or Pakistan. With the announcement that they would be heading to Dubai to stay, they will become neither here nor there. Well, Sania was considered the pride of the nation but with all these new changes and the twists and her curves, it is a rather nonplussed situation for many. Ironically, many are still trying to figure out what Sania will do with Shoaib’s bat and what Shoaib will do with Sania’s balls. It is as shady as the Ayesha marriage affair which went through several different episodes before reaching an end. Well, these are the lifestyles of celebrities folks.

I was concerned about Sania: Hot Hunk Navdeep
He’s struck BO gold in Kollywood as an actor, but back home, actor Navdeep is more remembered for his partying ways and friendship with Sania Mirza. The actor who keeps shuttling in and out of the city, was in town for a cancer awareness program. In a chat with Hyderabad Times he talks about films, friends and more.
Navdeep’s latest film Om Shanti, which had audiences talking about his designer togs and sense of style, was an experimental film with a new narration technique. But with the film failing to dazzle the BO, was the experiment too much of a gamble for someone who’s inching his way towards lead roles? In his usual bindaas style, Navdeep replies, “Nobody can predict if a film will be a hit or flop. If it clicks then everybody says ‘what a good decision, what acting!’ I’m not bothered by these reactions, I picked up the film because I liked the script and it was a big banner.”
His forthcoming film with Bhumika Chawla and Kim Sharma “is not the run-of-the-mill kind” he insists. Also Navdeep gets to do dare-devil stunts in the film and “all the action scenes were shot in Bangkok. You can see me jumping off high rises on to a moving truck, there’s a chase on a rooftop and lots more,” he grins.
But wasn’t pairing with Bhumika, a much senior actor, a tough call? Will it be another Dil Bole Hadippa, where Shahid Kapoor looked so much younger than the leading lady? “No, the film has a fast-paced narration; it’s a thriller unlike DBH which was a regular romantic film. So, the age factor doesn’t get magnified.” Navdeep’s currently busy with Sinam, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, and “though offers have come, I can’t talk about them now,” he says.
On a parting note we ask him what his first reaction was on hearing about Sania Mirza’s engagement being called off. “I was concerned. I was wondering how she was taking it and hoping all was well with her. But after I heard the news that it was a mutual decision, I was glad she was handling it well.” So, has he met her in recent times? “No, it’s a long time since I met her. The last time I saw her was at a function at her place,” he signs off.

Sania tosses Coin to clinch ITF tourney
Competing in only her second Challenger event, Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza clinched the $50,000 ITF title in Lexington, USA after an upset win over top seed Julie Coin.
The Indian, who was seeded second in the event, defeated France’s Coin 7-6 (5), 6-4 on Sunday. The last time Sania competed in a Challenger event was way back in 2003.
This was Sania’s 13th ITF singles title and the first after the WTA Hyderabad Open in 2005.
She also has eight WTA doubles titles — the Hyderabad Open (2004), Bangalore, Kolkata (both 2006), New Haven, Stanford, Cincinnati and Fes (all in 2007) and Ponte Verda Beach (2009) — to her credit.
She has also clinched four ITF doubles titles. It has been a good year for Sania so far. The Hyderabadi has won first Grand Slam title of any kind when she partnered Mahesh Bhupathi to lift the Australian Open mixed doubles trophy. The feat also made her the first Indian woman ever to win a Grand Slam title and the third Indian overall, after Bhupathi and Leander Paes.
There was good news for the 22-year-old on Monday. She rose three places to 80th in this week’s WTA singles rankings. However, she dropped 10 spots to 49th in the WTA doubles list. In the ATP rankings, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi held on to their sixth and eighth spots respectively in doubles list.
Meanwhile, Somdev Devvarman and Prakash Amritraj are one step away from making the singles’ main draw of the $630,500 ATP LA Open after advancing to the third and final round of the qualifying event in Los Angeles.
The second seeded Somdev beat his Slovakian opponent 6-1, 7-6 (1) while unseeded Prakash defeated Germany’s Frank Moser 7-6 (6), 6-1 in his second round. Somdev will next take on American sixth seed Alex Bogomolov Jr. Prakash will take on fifth seed American Ryan Sweeting.
