The police extended the closing time of cinema halls in the city by another hour till midnight. On May 30, city police commissioner Shankar Bidari decreed that cinema shows could be held in theatres and multiplexes between 10 am and 11 pm.
Recently, the Multiplex Association of India and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce submitted representations on permission to show movies till midnight.
The notification came into effect from August 19 and theatres and multiplexes can adjust the show timings at their convenience, between 10 am and midnight. Bidari warned that owners or managers of any theatre or multiplex who violate the order will be liable to prosecution.
