Ganesha is everywhere

A friend of mine has been forever dreaming of getting a tattoo of Ganesha because he is her favourite God! Then there's someone I know who has Ganesha all over her house - pillow covers, fridge magnets, lamps, tees.

On a broader perspective, India has positioned itself as a classic in the international fashion scene. Therefore if you buy that Ganesha T-shirt, it's equivalent to a classic black tee!

With Ganpati fever reaching its pitch, here's our list of must-have Ganesha collectibles:

Ganesha in your wardrobe

This one is a must-have! Whether it's a tee or scarf with Ganesha print - it will never go out of style or fashion. Prints of Ganesha in his true avatar and abstract representation aside, there's been a diversion towards batik and appliqué that are very in vogue.

Ganesha in your home

So you have an envious collection of Ganesha idols? Shift your focus to other goodies like a lamp, cushion cover or something more interesting like Ganpati paintings on plates or storage box. You can find these at Eco Corner and Tribal Route in Andheri, Mumbai. Cottage Industries Emporiums in all leading metros also have a delightful collection of Ganpati.

Ganesha in your study

Want to bring Ganesha into your study to get rid of any obstacles that may come in the way of success? Check out this silver Ganesha bookmark and store those extra coins in Ganesha piggy bank.

Ganesha in your jewellery box

Add more to your style list with adorable Ganesha accessories. If you ever visit Pushkar in Rajasthan or walk down Colaba Causeway in Mumbai or take a stroll through Palika Bazaar in Delhi, you will spot earrings, rings and neckpieces with the God's motifs. For the environment conscious, Tribal Route in Mumbai has a collection of pendants in terracotta.

Ganesha in your wish list

They say women sell their soul to the devil when they wear their first pair of Choos! Nevertheless, Choos are on top of our wishlist. And let's include more with a Ganesha inspired Leiber minaudière clutch adorned with 2000 multi-coloured Swarovski crystals and priced at a luxurious Rs 2.6 lakh.

Next in line is quirky designer Manish Arora's Spring Summer 2008 collection. And no the collection is not outdated! Arora sells because his clothes have a timeless appeal and if there are Ganesha motifs splashed all over, all the more reason for to add these to your wishlist.
