Quick take on Murugun

mba2.jpg

One bullet, only one sound, but three dead bodies stained in blood. How!!?? That’s Quick Gun Murugan. SRK imitated him in Om Shanti Om and M S Dhoni did a similar act.

Yenna rascala! Mind it! Quick Gun Murugun is back as a full length feature film, making the SRK and Dhoni acts look like promos.

Incidentally, the creator of the five-minute short series on Channel V by the same name is the man who’s made the film - Shashanka Ghosh.

Superstar (down South) Rajendra Prasad in the lead is dressed in a green silk shirt and orange pants, boots, waistcoat with a leopard-print and a cowboy hat with twin guns. Sambhar meets salsa in this flick.

Quick Gun Murugun makes his bullets fly, kills three with one bullet and even eats the bullets shot at him.

Now that’s one superhero!

The one-liners

The promos have all of us rolling on the floor. And what can we say about the guntastic dialogues. “Rascal, I will teach you how to behave,” he says with that typical South Indian intonation, and we are all laughing our lungs out.

Beat this one! “If you are lightning, I am 25 volt current.” And another one, “Don’t put your hand in lion’s mouth. That’s my humble request.” Yet another one, “Smoking is haanikarak to health.”

The South Indian accent is what makes these dialogues click.

One-liners and there's a whole load of 'em make this flick a must see.

The bad boys and the girl

Forget Mogambo, Dr Dang and even the Joker. Make way for Rowdy MBA, Rice Plate Reddy and Gun Powder - the three bad boys of Quick Gun Murugan.

And we thought Ghajini was a weird name for a villain.

In fact, the film is about the eternal battle between vegetarians and non-vegetarians, and our hero fights for the virtues of vegetarian food.

If you loved Mango Dollys - the ice cream - then you'll love this one better. The healthy, voluptuous and sexy Rambha makes a comeback as Murugan’s girl and named after the cheeky ice cream.

Dosa marketing

To promote the film and its theme, Quick Gun Murugun made a 32.5 feet long dosa with the help of 16 cooks in a marketing campaign, setting a new record of sorts.

While we have fun watching the promos, we’ll have to wait till August 28 to see if the film has enough masala or is just plain sada dosa.
