Police forces entered Osmania University campus only on the request of its Registrar to safeguard the lives of university personnel and its properties, IG of Police and official spokesperson of the Police Department, R.P. Thakur said on Monday.
Briefing the press in the Secretariat, Mr. Thakur also gave details of vehicles burnt or damaged and other violent activities during the last few days. Two lorries and a jeep were burnt partially burnt at Godavarikhani and Rahimkhanpet in Karimnagar district, a government jeep was burnt at Pitlam and a lorry was damaged at Padmajiwadi X roads in Nizamabad and eight tippers and a Bolero were damaged at Raigiri in Nalgonda by the miscreants.
Agitators set on fire irrigation office at Peddapalli in Karimnagar, a cell tower at Panthangir in Nalgonda, attacked MEO’s office at Nagnur in Medak, MPDO’s office at Chitial in Nalgondaand burnt a cell tower at Cherial in Warangal.
Further, miscreants damaged a statue of Rajiv Gandhi at Kalledi in Nizamabad and attacked the house of Bichkunda MLA Hanumanth Shinde in Nizamabad. In all, police arrested 127 TRS and BJP activists on the second day of TRS bandh.
