Shah Rukh stripped of cop cover

Shah Rukh has been stripped of police security after a recent review by authorities concluded that he no longer faces any threat. Until 10 days ago, eight constables from the Mumbai police's Protection and Security Branch used to guard him in two shifts. The actor was provided police cover in 2008 after the 'Indian Mujahideen' sent an email to news channels, threatening attacks on him and three other celebrities. Some industrialists also figured in the terror outfit's 'hit list'. Intelligence reports of fresh threats against Khan in 2010 forced authorities to maintain the cover, though the number of policemen was reduced to half. Last year, Deputy Police Commissioner Pratap Dighavkar submitted a report to then police chief Arup Patnaik, warning of threats from the 'Lashkar-e-Taiba' to Khan and his son, Aryan. However, months after the report, the Protection and Security Branch carried out an audit, and decided to withdraw the cover. An officer with the department said that the Wankhede Stadium episode and Khan's scuffle with film-maker Shirish Kunder at a Juhu pub had also resulted in the decision. "A person's behaviour is also taken into account while reviewing his security," the officer said. When TOI contacted Additional Commissioner Madhukar Pandery (P&S branch), he said, "At present, the actor does not face any threats. If threats arise, we will reconsider." In 2010, police protection provided to 54 celebrities, including Karan Johar, Vivek Oberoi, Firoz Nadiadwala, Himesh Reshammiya, Pritish Nandy, was withdrawn. There is no war between SRK and me: Salman

Bollywood actor Salman Khan says there is no war or rivalry between him and his colleague Shah Rukh Khan. He said stories of friction between them are created by the media and that he is tired of such “news”.

“There is no war between us. It is the media who creates all this misunderstanding,” Salman said.

“You will ask me some question about him here and then you will ask him the same question regarding me somewhere else — then you clip them together and run it continuously on TV screens for days creating unnecessary hype and misunderstanding,” he added.

The actor clarified that he is tired of such rumours and doesn’t enjoy them at all.

“I would request you to show respect to him and me as well. I am tired of all this. Aren’t you people bored too?” asked Salman.
