Anirudh becomes part of the franchise !

Choreographer turned director Raghava Lawrence is making all the right moves to build his Muni series into a popular franchise. While he signed Taapsee Pannu to play the lead of his film, which is tipped to be called ‘Ganga’, the latest addition to the project is the young musical sensation Anirudh Ravichandran. Anirudh seems to have been extremely impressed with Lawrence’s story and was quick to grab the opportunity to contribute to the third installment of the Muni series. The film will be written and directed by Raghava Lawrence who will also play the lead.

First Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri, now Afsar Hussain

Kamal’s Vishwaroopam had come under fire by a section of religious groups who stated that the film was hurting their sentiments. But one of the most striking features of the film was that the protagonist, played by Kamal himself, was a devout Indian Muslim, Wissam Ahmad Kashmiri, serving the nation as part of its intelligence network. Now the latest piece of information emerging from the camp of Ameerin Aadhi Bhagavan is that in this film too the hero, Jayam Ravi, will be portrayed as a sincere Muslim. Jayam Ravi’s character will apparently go by the name Afsar Hussain, and he plays a fearless CBI officer in the movie.

Big boost for Mysskin's next film

Looks like director Mysskin has put away plans of the Mugamoodi sequel for now. His next project has a puzzling title that goes by the name Onaayum Aattukuttiyum. Apart from the title very little else is known about the film or its cast. But the project will achieve an instant boost now since the musical maestro Isaignani Ilayaraja has been confirmed as the music director of the film. The last time both these talented creative personnel came together was for Nandhalala which starred Mysskin in the lead. It is interesting to note that Onaayum Aattukuttiyum will also feature Mysskin as the lead actor.

The actual reason for the postponement of Vishwaroopam verdict is ..

A verdict on Vishwaroopam's release was expected today after the concerned judge saw the movie on Saturday to assess the movie. But, the verdict has been postponed by a day. The judge has suggested Kamal Haasan to hold a discussion with government officials to arrive at an amicable settlement. A reason being suggested for the delay is that Kamal had thrown another case against a collective order given by the District Collectors to ban the film's release. A verdict for both the cases is expected tomorrow. With crores of money riding on the movie and with the already postponed release costing the movie its all-important first weekend collections, fans and well-wishers of Kamal Haasan are a truly concerned lot. When will the issue get sorted and when will the movie see the light of the day in Tamil Nadu? It must be noted that the movie has received overwhelmingly positive responses in the few shows that it has been allowed to run till now, in countries like the US, Canada, Malaysia, UK and also in Indian states like Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Vishwaroopam: Kollywood's New Definition

Check! Finally I was able to catch the special screening of Dr. Kamal Hassan's latest masterpiece - Vishwaroopam here in the United States. And I must say that I was one of the gifted ones to watch the full version of Kamal Hassan's uncensored imagination on silver screen. No, I am not exaggerating. Let me tell you why. But before that, I wish to say a few things about the one and only Kamal Hassan.
I am not supporting him because he is a man of numerous talents nor because he is one of the smartest persons on Earth. My ultimate support for him is because he is a good man with a kind heart, healthy thinking and high level of common sense. Admit it, we are living in a world where people would just keep quiet witnessing a girl being raped. The very same world curbs the freedom of speech. Common sense has become a rare superpower. In the midst of this, I believe one should hold on to this principle: "If I can't do something good, let me support those who can. If I can't support, the least I could do is not to go against." To me, Kamal Hassan is a responsible and caring social reformer. If he was a book author and he writes books on doing good to the society, I would support the book. The platform that he chose to share his charity and intelligence is movies, because he is the BEST in the movie business! Therefore, I would always support him and stand by his side for his good deeds and exceptional quality movies.
Coming back to Vishwaroopam. I have no rights to review this movie. All I can say are these:
(i) Vishwaroopam has redefined Kollywood. The only set of movies that would be on par with Vishwaroopam would be its' sequel (which is on making right now) and future Kamal's movies.
(ii) All this while we have been setting movies to standard margins such as: "Hollywood level", "Bollywood level" and so on. But no one spoke of "World level". Well, don't worry. You will be talking about it after watching Vishwaroopam.
(iii) I tried to find for all kinds of mistakes in the movie, but the more I tried to prove it wrong, the triple it proved ME wrong.
(iv) To all those who were wondering when will you be able to watch the BEST movie that Kollywood has ever produced, well, Vishwaroopam is the answer.
(v) To all Kamal Hassan fans who think that they have seen all of his acting skills in previous movies, well, I would say think again. This guy has just started his journey.
In short, Vishwaroopam is the zenith of top notch quality intellectual entertainment that I have seen so far. It has NOTHING against any religion, race or culture. The only thing it does is uniting all of us as one. To all my friends in Malaysia, they did not BAN the movie at any countries. It was only banned in Tamil Nadu. It has passed the censor board in all countries before being screened in the theatres. If it was banned at the first place, there wouldn't be any shows for the first two days of its release. It has only been temporarily stopped from screening. Once they lift the ban on Vishwaroopam at India, it will automatically play in the theatres all over the world. But definitely there would be a number of scenes censored from the movie due to realistic violences. But it would not affect the storyline. My only request is that please do not watch this movie illegally. That would be equal to killing a precious treasure that we are having now in our movie industry - Kamal Hassan. Thanx and enjoy watching it soon. Its worth the wait.

Director Bala’s Avan Ivan got U/A Certificate

Director Bala’s forthcoming movie ‘Avan Ivan’ has now received an official green signal as the movie has earned a clean ‘UA certificate’ by the censor board. As we have already mentioned the movie will be a first comedy entertainer by Director Bala, featuring Vishal & Aarya in the lead roles. Janani Iyer & Madhu Shalini play the ladies in love with the protagonists and performance by Vishal, as Walter Vanangamudi is eagerly awaited by all… The tunes that are scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja are quite unusual compared to his regular ones and are already chartbusters…

The movie is produced by Kalpathi S Agoram’s AGS Entertainment, who were also initially supposed to produce ‘Engeyum Kadhal'. The movie was later shifted hands to Sun Pictures and will hit the screens this Friday, May 6.

‘Engeyum Kadhal’ has received a ‘U certificate’ by the censor board and will be a rom-com, where the hero is against love and the heroine dreams of nothing but love. AGS Entertainment also opened its second multiplex in the city, at OMR that boasts off 4 screens. Looks like the production house is all geared up to entertain Kollywood movie fans in every way!

Tamil Ace Directore Bala Say No to Kamal & Rajni

It’s every South Indian director’s wish in Kollywood to make at least one film with top stars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. But Bala, quite like his films, is straight contrast to this popular trend of decades.

“I will never direct a film with either Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan. Because they too would not come forward to work with me,” the director of ‘Sethu’, ‘Nanda’, ‘Pithamagan’ and ‘Naan Kadavul’ says.

Bala, who insisted at the recent directors’ association function that he would receive a gold card only from the hands of his mentor Balumahendra, has named his daughter Akila, the name of Balumahendra’s wife.

For the national award winning director, his mentor’s wife is like his mother. He says: “Since it is not easy to call my daughter with that name often, she has a nickname Prarthana too,” he says.

Prakash Raj promotes Inidhu Inidhu in Bangalore

Producer-actor Prakash Raj is currently busy with the promotional activities for his upcoming film Inidhu Inidhu. In spite of producing so many films
, Prakash Raj never exerted so much effort to promote his movies. It's really nice to see him going ahead with an insatiably best on such activities.

Having promoted the film across the cities of Tamil Nadu, the actor was in Bangalore along with his entire crew to promote the film. The film crew was at Forum Mall and interacted with fans. Not often, we do see filmmakers of Kollywood promoting their films in another state, unless the movies are dubbed.

Inidhu Inidhu, a remake of Telugu movie Happy Days will hit screens on August 20.

Singer Chinmayi turns to activist!

An award-winning singer, a popular RJ, reality show host and CEO of a company — if you thought that Chinmayi has been wearing too many hats, you are in for a surprise.

The singer has added one more hat by turning an activist! And the issue that has caught her fancy is the on-going debate on the use of BT food.

“Actress Rohini has taken it upon herself to create awareness on the effects of BT food. In fact, I recently met her in the presence of several food scientists and doctors and discussed the dire effects of genetically modified food,” she says.
Elaborating her cause, she adds, “For instance, one of the scientists present at the meeting claimed that cows would not be able to eat cotton seeds (paruthi) that come from BT cotton. And, growing BT crops could spell disaster for our soil in the long run. This really alarmed us. So, Rohini and I really wanted to take this issue to the public.”
Rohini and Chinmayi will soon be holding a press conference to announce their plan of action.

“We will be seeking the help of the government and several multi-national companies to help us create an awareness on the importance of using organic food items. And, our Chief Minister M Karunanidhi is a person who supports anything natural,” smiles Chinmayi.

Actress Rohini chips in, “We’re planning a star night with prominent singers, but it’s too early to talk about it.”
Meanwhile, Chinmayi, on her part, has started involving friends to popularise the organic food movement in the city.
“I, along with a couple of my friends, have begun growing vegetables and fruits the organic way. And, I will be talking to my singer friends in the industry to support our cause,” she says.

Also, the singer’s blog and profile on the Internet are overflowing with inputs, comments and ideas that seek to spread the message that organic food is good!
