It is often said that sentiments run high in the film industry and with film related people. So, it is natural that they show strong faith in things like astrology or numerology etc.

However, this might sound a bit unusual but the buzz is that one of the most powerful celebrities and noted film family is not keen on doing that.

They are the Bachchan family. Yes, news is arriving that the Bachchan household is not keen on going by astrology when it comes to the starting letter of the name for the new baby. Apparently, few noted astrologists have reportedly suggested that the name of Aishwarya Bachchan’s daughter should start with K.

However, it is heard that the Bachchans have decided that the name should start with the letter A. As such, there are many ‘A’s in the family with the likes of Amitabh, Ajitabh (Amitabh’s brother), Abhishek, Aishwarya so it is natural as to why they want the name to start with that letter. Anyways, let us wait for the official announcement on the baby’s name folks.

Hurray! Aishwarya Rai Blessed With A Girl!

Former Miss World and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Wednesday delivered a girl at a hospital here.

The baby, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya's first child, was born at the Seven Hills Hospital.

"IT'S A GIRL!!," Abhishek, 35, posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.com.

The proud grandfather Amitabh too couldn't control his happiness and tweeted: "I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl, A dada ji ... Ecstatic."

Aishwarya, 38, had been admitted to the hospital Monday night, according to her spokesperson.

Ram Gopal Varma is controversy's favorite child. Rather, the filmmaker courts controversy like a lover would woo the woman he's besotted with. It comes as no surprise then that the recent flick under his banner, " Bejawada" has ruffled a lot of feathers.

And in the typical manner in which an RGV story unfolds, the director has now been getting death threats. Now, the contentious suffix "Rowdilu," has been dropped from the title, but controversy surrounding the film just refuses to die. "Speculations are rife because of the title. Unlike " Raktha Charitra", I've never said that I am basing this film on the lives of real people. It is director Vivek Krishna's story and I never said that it is based on anybody," clarifies RGV.

But this isn't a first for the filmmaker who loves to kick up a storm. Almost all his movies have a strong foundation on controversies. For an observer, it's pretty clear - a successful publicity strategy. "When you are making a film on contentious subjects, naturally everybody will have an opinion. It's just that no one else has tried to do it. It is the public interest in the subject matter that creates controversies and not the film by itself," argues the director.

But if you thought that after all the mini storms in the tea cup, the film maker would refrain from the hullabaloo, then you are wrong. For Ram Gopal Varma, controversies are nothing but mere 'entertainment'.

"I find it (controversies) very entertaining, and I am sure the media thinks the same about it too," he says with a know-it-all smile. But being called all sorts of derogatory names must get under his skin at some point? "Well, I've been called names all the time. The media calls me Ramu. After a point, you just lose sensitivity to it. The fact that I just do not care seems to accentuate the point," he explains.

Having said that, one however, wonders how can someone be so oblivious to criticism that comes his way almost all the time? Aren't most filmmakers known to be the 'please-all' types? "Well, I give a f**k about anybody. I make films because I love it and I want people to watch them. Whether they like it or not is another thing altogether. I am basically pushing my vision down their throats. Sometimes they might swallow it and sometimes they might just puke it out," he quips.

The industry has always been kind to success. Is that the reason why most people tend to forgive him for his jibes and remarks? "For me, success is about being able to get up in the morning and doing whatever you want to do until you go back to bed at night.

By that definition, I have been successful from the time I was five years old," he says in typical RGV style. Now that leads to the question, what happened when he was five? "My mother dropped me on my head," he retorts, poker face. Maybe, that was his eureka moment. "I don't believe in God or religion. I don't have any commitments and have never donated a single rupee for a cause. In short, I have done nothing that a good human being is supposed to do, yet I am able to do whatever I want to do. I just enjoy every second of my life because I know exactly who I am and what I want."

So how does RGV enjoy 'every single moment'? "It is all about pleasing my senses - be it listening to music, making films or looking at a beautiful woman," he says. And he doesn't stop at that. For the maverick, material possessions too are of utmost importance. "My most valuable possession is my collection of porn," he says without twitching a facial muscle. One can't help but take the liberty of asking if there are any specific preferences in that department. "It's hard to classify porn, you see," he retorts.

With so many movies under his belt, one can't help but ask why hasn't he made a love story yet. "I want to make a love story soon. It will be gritty and will break all conventions about how love stories are made traditionally," he says.

"I live for today and don't think about yesterday unless it's about reliving a pleasurable memory. I don't think about tomorrow because I want it to surprise me, if it doesn't, I will try to surprise myself, I live like that," he says before signing off.

'KBC 5' nears end, Big B emotional

With the finale of " Kaun Banega Crorepati 5" being aired next week, Amitabh Bachchan says it is hard to say goodbye to the popular game show.

"The recording for the finale for KBC took place today (Thursday) and it took an entire day to do so. It has been an exceptional season this year and when one leaves such environs there is bound to be a deep feeling of not wanting to depart. All the little little things that made up these extraordinary days on set was of a very distinguished quality," Big B posted on his blog Bigb.bigadda.com.

The last episode of season five, which started Aug 15, will be aired Nov 17.

"A routine had been set, people worked to maintain a sense of togetherness in all these days. And today one had to say our 'bye byes'. Tough when you have to do this, but I guess you must bury the old so that the new prosper. The new will indeed take over, and should. But in a most deserving and disciplined manner," he added.

The 69-year-old had made his small screen debut with "Kaun Banega Crorepati" way back in 2000. And since then, the megastar has hosted four out of five seasons. The third edition was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan .

The first three seasons were aired on STAR Plus, but from the fourth season it was telecast on Sony with Amitabh as the host.

With the underlying belieft that 'Koi insaan chhota nahi hota', this season saw people from India's interiors participating. Of them, Sushil Kumar won Rs.5 crore and Anil Sinha Rs.1 crore but there were many others who won large sums of money, fulfilling their lifelong dreams.

Thanks to all this and Amitabh's mass connect, the show managed to generate the highest rating of a non-fiction show by registering 7.2 TVR (television rating) and 8 TVR for two episodes when 'aam admi' Sushil Kumar won the Rs.5 crore jackpot.

It was telecast in two parts and reached out to 25 million people on Nov 1 and 27 million people Nov 2 respectively.

'Ra.One' might have come and gone but 'Don 2' would get SRK big bucks say his stars. Also as per astrology, his team KKR will perform well in the next IPL.

'RA.One will make Rs 100 crore in a week' Diwali Gift

Trade talk is anything to go by, RA.One will only need the six-day Diwali weekend, starting October 26, to recover Rs 100 crore, the remainder of the film’s estimated Rs 150 crore budget. Reportedly, producers Gauri Khan (lead actor Shah Rukh Khan’s wife) and Eros have already made Rs 50 crore through TV rights in India (Rs 35 crore), home video and music rights among others.Tradesmith Amod Mehra believes that with RA.One raking in the moolah, the never-ending Salman-SRK war will heat up again at the box office, and should, in turn, generate great business for Hindi film trade in India. “RA.One can easily surge ahead of Bodyguard, which is the year’s biggest money maker so far. As of now, it looks like R 100 crore will be recovered in the first week itself, because the film opens in several countries on the same day and SRK is a popular figure in a lot of places where Hindi isn’t even understood,” he adds.

Typically, the earnings from any movie are divided into three or four parts. A portion, about 45 per cent, is paid as tax. The remainder is divided between distributors, exhibitors, and at times, producers who claim a share in the “overflow”.

The soon-to-be-hitched Gautam Gambhir seems to be taking his shaadi-related work seriously, even taking out time between matches.

With D-day, October 28, drawing closer, Gauti is constantly taking stock of the preparations back home for his wedding to Delhi girl Natasha Jain.

For instance, he stayed back in Delhi after the match at Kotla and landed in Chandigarh on Wednesday afternoon, while the rest of the squad had already arrived on Tuesday evening. SRK, co-owner of the Kolkata IPL team, is happy about his player Gauti getting married. Wishing him luck, he said, "It's time to celebrate. May God bless him with everything he desires." SRK, who was in Ludhiana on Wednesday afternoon, did not say whether he'd make it to Gauti's wedding, but sources say it's uncertain as his schedule is quite hectic. Though the "RA.One" release on October 26 is not clashing with the southpaw's wedding date, still there's no clarity on SRK going because he has some other commitments to fulfil. "He's not just a wonderful player but a great human being too," said SRK.

Most of the costume and styling is done by Aki Narula, he came up with most of the ideas. The problem in this movie is that we have to be specific to where the character Janardan Jakhad is coming from and where he's going. Jordan (Janardan) is the kind of person who doesn't pay attention to the clothes he's wearing and when you do that, the clothes become even more symbolic of who you are. The whole journey is coded in the costumes he's wearing, so a particular screen shot of the film will remind you of a particular phase in the character's life in the film. Jordan is not an articulate person and the film is also not articulate and is not synced too much, so we relied greatly on costumes to communicate.

Saif's too refined for a rockstar
"Saif was not my choice because as much as you try you cannot take the gentleman out of Saif, he's very sophisticated and that comes across in his on-screen characters. That brashness that I wanted in Jordan, would have been difficult to pull off with Saif because he's so well-rounded. Ranbir on the other hand has this Punjabi touch - I wanted my character to be like that. Also, I wanted a younger actor to play Jordan to make the college dude connect. An Aamir can pull off a college-goer in "3 Idiots" and Ranbir fit the bill."

Ranbir Kapoor doesn't pretend to play the guitar in the film, it is him. The actor trained for a year in Mumbai before he could playing Jordan. "There are people who pretend to play the guitar, but why would I want that in my film? says Imtiaz.


With nargis, he got exactly what he was looking for
"We were looking for a person who would look completely unachievable for Ranbir, so there would be a certain level of plain looks and real personality when we first picked Nargis. I did not want a 'I'm so hot and sexy and I pout my lips' kind of personality," says Imtiaz.

Imtiaz also feels that though Nargis portrays her character to perfection, "You never get the exact person that you have in mind because that person does not exist, so you try to get the person who is most matched in terms of the soul. The mechanics can be imposed, but the basic process of the heart and soul can't be imposed. She's a gifted person and I knew she's a high capable individual."

His personal life is his work
"Personally, I have no balance in life," says Imtiaz adding, "I have lost it." "All of my personal life revolves around my work. I don't have the time for my family that I would like to have. But fortunately enough my daughter is very communicative and one of the smartest people I've met at her age... She understands. We talk a lot and that helps, I might not be there often, but there is always the communication connect."

Imtiaz also feels that his family is so intrinsically involved in his profession, that sometimes it becomes important to remind them that it's not their job. "Certain things have to be communicated to the kids very clearly, that this is my job, they might be a part of my life, but that doesn't make my job, theirs'. Their life is at school, at a tennis court and at guitar classes, and that's where I'm very willing to help my daughter out. We are sorted," he says with a smile on his face.

Munna bai ruined 8 years of my Life claims Producer Noorani

The Bombay High Court has ordered attachment of two properties of film actor Sanjay Dutt in keeping with an arbitration award passed by the Indian Motion Pictures Producers` Association in January this year on a financial dispute between him and producer Shakeel Noorani.

According to a TV news channel, the court issued a warrant against Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt for confiscation of all his property. Shakeel went on record saying that he has been duped by Sanjay and because of him he has lost 8 years of his life.

The court took this action on the petition filed by Shakeel Noorani back in 2002, who claimed that the actor backed out of his film titled ‘Jaan Ki Bazzi’. Noorani dragged the actor to court over losses incurred due to the actor abandoning a film.

According to the court order, all of Sanjay’s belongings can be seized and he might even turn homeless.

Speaking from Sanjay’s residence, Noorani said, “I have just pasted the court’s attachment notice at Sanjay Dutt’s home and tomorrow I will be going to his office. This man wasted 8 years of my life. The film was 50% complete and he left it mid way. I have made ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’, which was a hit and after that because of this issue, I have been facing a lot of problems and since then haven’t been able to release any other film.”

He further added, “I am grateful that the court passed the order in my favour. The lost time won’t come back again. I could regain my stake in the industry, but I will not sit back against wrong done to me because of which even my kids had to suffer.”

However, Sanjay has the option of approaching the Supreme Court to challenge the High Court’s order.

Efforts were being made to contact Sanjay Dutt to know what he plans to do next, but all went in vain. However, his lawyer said that they will challenge the illegal claims made by Noorani as when the court opens.

Dutt has 6 weeks to contest the notice and the alleged false decree that has been granted by Bombay HC. Country’s eminent lawyer Satish Manchandani, addressing media on behalf Dutt said, “We will have a look at the decree execution order of the High Court and then decide on appropriate action to be taken in this matter”.

Abhishek hits back @Prahlad Kakkar

Bollywood star Abhi has hit back at ad makerPrahlad Kakkar's comment that the actor should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for standing strong despite delivering 17 flops.


"I love Prahlad Kakkar, he should be a stand-up comic not an ad-filmmaker. Maybe then someone will take him seriously! This coming from a man who makes commercials with his own son," Abhishek posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Kakkar, who made Abhishek's wife, actress Aishwarya Rai, famous as Sanju in a 1993 TV commercial for Pepsi, took a jibe on Abhishek at the Mumbai Film Festival.

Taking a potshot at Abhishek, the adman said: "Abhishek Bachchan has 17 flops in a row and is still going strong. He is unique and should be in the Guinness Book of Records."

In return, Abhishek commented: "Oh ya, Prahlad, I'm already in the Guinness Book of World Records and a very proud son. I hope you give your sons an opportunity to say the same someday."

In February 2009, Abhishek broke the Guinness' world record for maximum public appearances in 12 hours while promoting Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's "Delhi 6".

I-T moves HC to claim Rs 4-cr from Super star Salman in tax evasion case

The Income Tax Department has moved the Bombay High Court to claim Rs four crore from actor Salman Khan in a tax evasion case while challenging an order of the appellate body which absolved him from paying the amount.

The petition will come up for hearing in due course before a bench headed by Justice V V Daga.

The Income Tax Department had charged the actor with evading tax to the tune of Rs four crore for assessment year 2000-2001.

The actor had declared his income as Rs 9.32 crore during the same financial year. However, the I-T department found his income to be to the tune of Rs 13.61 crore and informed the actor about the reassessment.

Salman challenged the assessment order before the Commissioner of Income Tax (appeals) who ruled in his favour.

The Income Tax department then filed an appeal in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) which in June last year dismissed it, giving relief to the actor.

Finally, the Income Tax department approached the High Court to set aside the ITAT order and seek a stay on the implementation of the order.

The Court will give its ruling after hearing both the sides.

I'll be 68 and stepping into 69: Amitabh Bachchan

The celebrations for his birthday began almost a month in advance with his big win at the National Awards. But megastar Amitabh Bachchan would like to spend his 68th birthday Monday quietly in his den even as he mulls new moves like copyrighting his voice to prevent misuse.

"I am going to be at home... I'll be spending it with family," Amitabh, who has done close to 200 films and won four National Awards, told in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

The star's son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya are in South Korea but will be back in time for his birthday.

Big B, as he is fondly called, proved his invincible mettle yet again when he won the national honour last month as the best actor for portraying a 13-year-old progeria patient in AB Corp's "Paa". And bouquets of congratulations for the star haven't stopped coming since.

Rumours were rife that he would host a special party on his birthday to which he said: "That whole news about some kind of celebration is wrongly reported."

Adding to his happiness will be the fourth season of quiz show "Kaun Banega Crorepati" that will go on air on Sony TV coinciding with his birthday Monday.

Reports also suggest that the channel has arranged for a birthday bash for the sexagenarian at the JW Marriott hotel in Mumbai.

"I am not sure what the channel wants me to do. They want me to cut a cake or something like that because they just want to be a part of my birthday so that's fine. I may go out and cut a cake or something like that.

"But generally I remain at home, I meet the family, be with them and yes if there are people who want to come and see me, then I go out and meet them," said Amitabh in his signature calm demeanour.

Asked how different it would be at 68, he said: "Well, every year is different. What one can one say - I'll be completing 68 and stepping into 69. It's been 41 years in the industry. It's a long time."

That makes up for good fodder for an autobiography and why not - his regular blog updates are testimony to the fact that he is a prolific writer but Amitabh says he won't ever wield the pen for a memoir.

"No, No, No. I am incapable of writing a biography. Blog is something I casually do and now I do Twitter and the voice blog but in any case I don't think there is anything worthwhile in my life to be written about.

"I'd rather live with my father's (legendary poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan) biography which I think is really one of the best that I've seen. I'd rather live with that than write my own," he replied.

Talk of Big B and what hits the mind is his rich reverberating baritone voice - that was once rejected by the All India Radio but is now the bread-and-butter of mimics. But Amitabh soon plans to draw a line here with legal help.

"I was not aware of this so there was a lot of corruption. Voice mimics used to use voices and commercialise it. I think there are laws within the country perhaps inspired by some laws in the West where copyrighting and getting your attributes registered (is in practice) so that they cannot misuse it. I am in the process of doing that," he said with the bass in his voice taking a mellow turn.

With a style that is classic and still rakishly flamboyant, this legend hopes to turn a new leaf everyday.

So far as acting goes, he will be seen in Rajkumar Santoshi's " Power", Puri Jagannath's next, Prakash Jha's " Aarakshan" and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's production too.
