Congress MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who was recently detained for his controversial ‘yatra’ (rally), said he will not leave the party but is ready to quit from his Lok Sabha post.
“There is no reason why I should leave my party (Congress). If I had to leave, I would have done that immediately after my father (late Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy) died; at that time I also had sympathy of 135 MLAs,” Reddy told reporters on Monday here.
Reddy, who is in the Capital to meet Congress top brass over the ‘yatra’ controversy, said: “I respect madam (party supremo Sonia Gandhi) a lot, and have full faith in her. My intensions are clear, my mind is guilt-free, I have not done anything wrong.
“I am here (Delhi) to request the Congress to allow me continue my Odarpu Yatra. I will explain my stand behind this apolitical rally. The ‘yatra’ cannot be stopped…it’s my moral responsibility and duty to carry on with it. ”
Asked if there are chances that Congress will take action against him over this issue, Reddy said: “I don't think the party will take action against me. Why should they? I have done no wrong.”
On May 28, Reddy was taken into preventive custody by the Andhra Pradesh police, apprehending violent clashes after he refused to call off his controversial yatra (rally).
Reddy was arrested from a train at Vangapalli in Nalgonda district while he was on way to Warangal to console the family members of those who died of shock or committed suicide after his father’s death in a helicopter crash last year.
Reddy was on a yatra to meet the bereaved family members and even after his arrest, he has reportedly stated of resuming his travel at a later date.
His yatra was seen as a move to give air to the anti-Telangana lobby, of which Reddy and his late father were supporters.
Like the late chief minister, the younger Reddy is also against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and he had, along with MPs from Rayalaseema and Andhra regions, voiced their opposition to formation of Telangana state in the Parliament.
The yatra could have fuelled clashes between Reddy’s supports and pro-Telangana activists.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC), Telangana Rashtra Samiti, other pro-Telangana groups, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had announced their plans to stall the yatra.
Some Congress leaders were also against Reddy’s yatra and had even reportedly got Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to ask Reddy to stop his rally.
But Reddy had decided to go ahead with the yatra, which he has now stated of resuming at a later time.
He has maintained that the yatra was not a political statement, and his detractors were trying to defame him.

Link Between YSR’S Death And Sooreedu's Absence
Andhra Pradesh CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy breathed his last yesterday and the news has come today. Now a sentiment is being discussed in big way across the state. There is a big legend that surrounds the reason for Sooreedu’s presence along with YSR from many years. Earlier, a soothsayer said to YSR’s father Raja Reddy to always move along with Sooreedu to be safe.
The soothsayer said it seems, “There is a karmic bond between Sooreedu and your family, which even Sorredu doesn’t know. Never leave him. The moment you are away from him, you are prone to risk”. From then Raja Reddy never stood away from Sooreedu whenever he was moving out except on the day of his death. Yes, Raja Reddy moved out without Sooreedu on a day that happened to be his last day as he was assassinated.
With that the sentiment of Sooreedu has strong among CM’s family members. Hence YSR always moved along with Sooreedu. But he missed going along with him yesterday that happened to be last day. Probably, because of not caring that sentiment big amidst his duties or the day has come for him.
This discussion is now on top among the friends those know about the legend that surrounds Sooreedu from many decades.

Known as a people's leader for several initiatives for their welfare, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was on his way to launch yet another mass contact programme when the helicopter carrying him went missing in the dense Nallamalla forests, before it was found nearly 24 hours later on Thursday.
It was only around 0500 hrs IST on Wednesday that senior police officials in Chittoor district were informed by the Chief Minister that he would be visiting Anuppalle village to launch 'Racchabanda' programme.
A day after the budget session of state assembly concluded, YSR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, chose a remote village in Anuppalle to launch the programme of surprise visits to villages to know people's problems.
"I want to know the problems in village through this surprise visit and want to have a direct interaction with the villagers. I told them (the officials) only at 0500 hrs IST that I will be visiting the village as they have to make security arrangements," YSR said in his last interview before boarding the helicopter here at 08.35 hrs IST on Wednesday.
"If I tell the officials in advance about my visit they will rectify some problems and hence this programme is being launched. The basic aim is to see whether the delivery mechanisms of the government are working or not," he told Sakshi television channel, which is run by his son Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
"I want to know how the concerned departments are working to deal with drought, whether farmers are getting the required assistance, whether the village has drinking water supply. I also want to see if there is any poor person who has not got a ration card, house or pension. We have promised that every poor will get a house and ration card," he said.
"This is a representative sample as I can't visit all 20,000 villages in the state. I will go on such visits for three to four days in a month and will cover four to five villages in a day," YSR had said.
It was various such programmes taken up by him during last five years that helped him retain power in the recent elections despite facing a strong and united opposition alliance led by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Praja Rajyam floated by actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi.

Prime Minister's office on Thursday confirmed that Andhra Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has died in the helicopter crash. Five dead bodies were in the mangled debris of the helicopter.

At last the news turned bitter. The tension has become a bad grief now across the state. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is declared as killed in chopper crash along with two pilots MS Reddy and Bhatia, Personal Security officer John Wesley and IAS officer Subrahmanyam. The helicopter was crashed on the hill of Veligonda amidst Nallamala forest around 9:30 AM on 2nd September 2009. The dead of bodies of all five are found by Airforce authorities first. Entire state if stuck in grief.

CM, victim of security lapse
It was a security and administrative lapse all along. Security advisors to the state government had not bothered to suggest that the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, carry a satellite telephone with him at least while heli-hopping.
Worse, the team accompanying the Chief Minister of a progressive state does not possess even a simple jungle survival kit. There’s no emergency position indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) system with the chief security officer.
The team also did not bother to carry the Rs 150 blinker lamp, which serves as a beacon light to attract the attention of rescue teams in case of emergency. Only the government-owned BSNL has a cellular network in some pockets of the thick Nallamala forests over which the helicopter carrying the chief minister went missing.
Ironically, none of the members of the Chief Minister’s team has a BSNL cellphone connection. They have either Airtel or Idea, which do not have proper network in the jungle or countryside.
Moreover, the helicopter does not have a strong communication network except for its very high frequency communication system. It
has a limited range and the VHF gets connected to the nearest police network as the helicopter traverses through.
“We have not been using satellite phones. So we did not think of it,” was the casual reply of M Ramesh Reddy, one of the chief security officers of the Chief Minister. The other chief security officer John Wesley is accompanying the chief minister in the helicopter. He went on to say that the helicopter was in good condition and was equipped with a VHF set, without knowing that the very high frequency does not have wide range of communication, in contrast to high frequency sets.
AP Aviation Corporation managing director, Mr K.V. Brahmananda Reddy, also admitted the security lapse when he said the Chief Minister’s team was not carrying a satellite phone for emergency communication. Modern satellite phones are also equipped with distress radio beams, which sent out a unique SOS signal which is repeated quite often. The signal can be detected from virtually any point on the globe.
That the security advisors have taken the chief minister’s security rather lightly is evident from the fact that the team is equipped with only a pistol. Given the thick forest area and the naxal threat in the Nallamala forests as also the rugged hilly terrain, the chief security officer accompanying Rajasekhar Reddy should have taken extra precautions. Congress waits for 'tiger of Cuddapah'
The downcast mood at the Congress headquarters mirrored the dark, overcast sky on Wednesday. Their concern was palpable and a
desperate search for "good news" saw them huddled before TV sets at 24, Akbar Road.
On his way to the airport in the evening, en route to Hyderabad, law minister Veerappa Moily told TOI, "We still have no news. But operations will go on through the night. I am worried by the developments, but we are doing all we can. ISRO has been asked to help locate the missing chopper." Apart from central leaders, Andhra Pradesh MPs were also airdashing to Hyderabad.
The downcast mood was understandable as Y S Rajasekhara Reddy or "YSR" has forded the Vindhyas to demonstrate how a leader from the South could make himself a key influence with the party leadership, while emerging as a satrap who towers above other regional bosses.
The 2009 Lok Sabha polls entrenched YSR on the national scene, even though he was happy with a state role. The canvas that was explored by leaders like Sharad Pawar, Lalu Prasad and Mulayam Singh Yadav is now YSR's, but his impact was more behind the scene as far as the Centre is concerned. But it cannot be understated with a tally of 33 MPs when Congress was not expected to touch half of its 2004 tally of 29.
YSR did this even as his views on Telangana were uncompromising and the collapse of Satyam hurt. He returned to power all by himself backing his instincts fiercely and delivered a huge leg up to the Congress. The surprise victory — not for him — made him a legend overnight.
For a heavily centralised AICC not given to accommodating satraps, Reddy has managed to carve a place for himself as a regional heavyweight, even reviving a non-existent phenomenon. He has done this without losing his tag as a firm 10, Janpath favourite. As a state boss, he seems to have left behind satraps like J B Patnaik of Orissa and, on a much smaller scale of political significance, Bhajan Lal.
Reddy consciously kept the central leadership on his side, delivering key promises on time. His role in breaking Telugu Desam Party ahead of July 22 confidence vote, despite the MPs being under the close watch of their chief Chandrababu Naidu, also endeared himself to the powers-that-be.
The success of 'tiger of Cuddapah' to have his way with high command marks his importance as an organiser. And the fear of any calamity leaving a void in its wake is writ large on the faces worried about the party's future in Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy has not just authored a roadmap to bring down Telugu Desam Party chieftain Chandrababu Naidu, he has also chartered the party through a difficult phase when it had to confront hostile elements like TRS and an agenda of bifurcation which may have cost him his place with the constituents in Rayalaseema and Coastal regions.
With a mix of stubbornness, a strongarm approach and shrewd politics, the organiser-in-chief has moulded a dissidence-ridden unit into a cohesive machine, though not without ruffling feathers. While in the process he earned a fair share of detractors, he has been helped by a trusting leadership which has thrown its lot behind him whenever delegations have come knocking at 10, Janpath.
The resultant stability has proved a boon for Congress by neutralising the 'Telugu pride' card which regional outfit Telugu Desam has played to trip it. It is not for nothing that workers are worried and the leadership is hoping for the best.

Minister Ponnala Laxmiah Hospitalized
Minister Ponnala Laxmiah got hospitalized just a few minutes ago followed by High BP, as per I News reports. He is admitted in Care Hospital. The news is that he got tensed up followed by YSR’s missing news and hence his blood pressure has got shot up. Doctors as of now say that his condition is ok but needs constant medical care.

The rescue operation to find YSR
The fate of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajashekar Reddy remains uncertain after his chopper went missing on Wednesday morning. A massive search operation is underway in the Nallamala forest to look for the CM and the four other co-passengers.
It has been close to twelve hours and there is still no news of the whereabouts of the Bell chopper that took off from Hyderabad.

Congress sends Moily, Chavan to AP
Congress supporters turn emotional as they wait for news of missing Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in Vijayawada on Wednesday.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has asked Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily and Minister of State for Science & Technology Prithviraj Chavan to head for Hyderabad at the earliest to deal with the situation arising after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s helicopter went missing in the morning on Wednesday.
The Congress on Wednesday described the situation arising after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s helicopter went missing in the morning as a ``crisis’’ but pleaded ignorance about any further details.
By evening, Congress president Sonia Gandhi asked Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily and Minister of State for Science & Technology Prithviraj Chavan to head for Hyderabad at the earliest to deal with the situation.
While Mr. Moily has been asked to go in his capacity as the party’s general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Chavan – who holds additional charge of Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – is going as the Centre’s representative to monitor the search operations.
The decision to send the two Ministers to Andhra Pradesh was taken in the evening; nine hours after the chopper went missing in the Nallamala forest area near Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. Other Andhra Pradesh Congress leaders including Union Minister for Urban Development S. Jaipal Reddy and V. Hanumantha Rao are also heading for Hyderabad.
Ms. Gandhi is understood to have spoken to the Chief Minister’s son, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy – a first-time member of the Lok Sabha – during the day. After Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram briefed Ms. Gandhi in the evening about the steps being taken to find Mr. Reddy, the Congress president called an emergency meeting of her key aides – Ministers Pranab Mukherjee and A. K. Antony, and political secretary Ahmed Patel -- to take stock of the situation.
Shaken by the turn of events but keeping its hopes alive for now, the Congress refused to speak about the issue with spokesman Manish Tewari stating that the party had nothing to add to what Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K. Roshiah had said in Hyderabad. ``It is an evolving situation. This is a sensitive situation,…. a crisis situation. We are praying for his safety. ’’
As the hours passed by, however, hope began fading in the Congress and leaders could not help remembering the party losing other dynamic leaders like Madhavrao Scindia and Rajesh Pilot in accidents. In addition, they pointed out, Mr. Reddy’s chopper went missing in a Naxal-prone dense forest area, adding to the risks in this case.

Since 12 hr Andhra Pradesh Cheif Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s chopper went missing.
Its been over twelve hours since Andhra Pradesh Cheif Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s chopper went missing.
Frantic Search operations are going on to find him. Indian Air Force (IAF) has joined in the search to find missing chopper. Four helicopters have been deployed for the rescue mission.
The Police department along with the help of local ‘Chenchus’ are also started their search for Rajasekhara Reddy.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Ramakant Reddy said the chief minister remains untraced after his helicopter went missing amid bad weather Wednesday morning.
He said the government had not been in touch with the chief minister since 9.45 a.m.

“So far we have not been able to get any confirmation (about the chief minister),” he said.
“It is possible that because of the strong winds and heavy rains, it may have landed in some unfamiliar area,” he said.
“If you land in an unfamiliar forest area, getting out will be very difficult,” he added.
Earlier in afternoon some false news circulated in electronic media that CM has been found and that he is there alive in a guest house.
