At a time when Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas is going ahead with his electioneering in full swing and the Congress in-charge ministers busy gearing up the party cadres elsewhere in Telangana region, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao surprisingly confined himself to Hyderabad making nasty statements.
The TRS president appears to be supremely confident about the victory of the party candidates in their respective constituencies and leaves the field to the pro-Telangana groups and students. He is of the view that the people of the Telangana would be at loss if they did not vote for the TRS candidates. “They have to decide their own fate. I need not go to them and tell them what to do,” appears to be his mindset.
However, KCR has been making pungent statements sitting in Hyderabad and asking the people to defeat the Congress and TDP candidates. He is particularly targeting the PCC president, stating that Telangana state would be possible only if DS lost his deposit in the by-elections. The TRS president made the same mistake of taking the people for granted in 2008 by-elections as well. As a result, he had to lose nine seats to the Congress and the TDP.

Students, police clash in OU
Police and students fought pitched battles at the Osmania University on Wednesday as violence erupted during the funeral procession of K. Venugopal Reddy, a student who committed suicide on Tuesday pained at the delay in the formation of Telangana.
A mob at OU set fire to two police vehicles, damaged a third one and pelted stones at the police personnel. Cops then lathicharged the mob and and fired over 30 tear gas shells to disperse them. Over 40 people, including 15 cops were injured in the violence.
Following the clashes, the Telangana Joint Action Committee decided to extend the bandh to Thursday to protest against the lathicharge on students. The APSRTC, which resumed its services on Wednesday, is likely to cancel its services on Thursday in view of bandh.
However, Krishank, the OU JAC member, said RTC was being exempted from the bandh because of Samakka Jatara that will be held on Thursday at Warangal. “We are also exempting petrol bunks from the bandh,” he said.
Earlier in the day, thousands of Telangana activists gathered at the Arts College building where Venugopal’s body was kept. Police in riot gear was deployed in large numbers in the campus.
Trouble erupted near the Ladies Hostel around 11 am, after police prevented students from taking out a procession with the body from the NCC Gate. The situation spiralled out of control and students and police clashed with each other for over an hour.

KCR critical; Rosaiah knocks Sonia's door
As the fasting by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president, K. Chandrasekhara Rao reaches its eleventh day, ministers in Andhra Pradesh have hit the panic button.
According to media reports Chief Minister K Rosaiah is reported to be in New Delhi to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi to discuss the Telangana issue.
It has been said that a high level meeting will be held after the return of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from russai on Wednesday, Dec 9.
Anticipating violence due to the deteriorating condition of the fasting TRS leader, universities have been closed down for 10 days.
The sugar level of Rao is said to be to normal but medical team at NIMS said that his condition is still critical and fatal consequences of the fast cannot be ruled out.
On Tuesday, Dec 8, medical team at NIMs have warned of fatal consequences if the fasting leader does not break his fast immediately.

Ministers threaten to quit over T stir
The group of ministers from Telangana has heightened the pitch of their confrontation with the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, by threatening to quit their posts in support of the ongoing agitation.
The ‘pressure group’ that includes the home minister, Ms P. Sabita Reddy, Mr K. Venkata Reddy (IT), Ms K. Sunitha Lakshmareddy (minor irrigation), Mr D. Sridhar Babu (higher education), Mrs D.K. Aruna (small industries) and Mr B. Sudarshan Reddy (medical education) has been vigorously opposing the Chief Minister’s strategy on Telangana.
On Monday, the gulf between the group and the Chief Minister widened after police caned students in Osmania University.
They rushed to the Chief Minister and lodged their protest. They wanted Mr Rosaiah to recall police from the campus and the home minister also supported the demand for the transfer of IPS official, Mr Stephen Ravindra.
Before approaching the Chief Minister, Ms Sabita is said to have expressed her intention to quit as home minister as no senior officer was heeding her words at this crucial hour.

The IT minister also expressed his readiness to resign saying there was no meaning in his clinging to the post when students of Telangana were chased and beaten up.
However, the political adviser, Dr K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, stepped in and pacified the agitated minister asking him to follow the spirit of collective responsibility of the cabinet.
He told him not to take students’ criticism of ministers to heart.
The pressure group was instrumental in the Chief Minister’s decision to recommend an amendment to the Presidential Order on free zone issue.
There were also heated discussions between ministers from other regions and the pressure group at the informal cabinet meeting held on Sunday.
Other Telangana ministers such as Mr Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Dr J. Geetha Reddy, Mr D. Nagender, Mr Mukesh Goud, Mr D. Rajanarasimha and Mr R. Venkata Reddy have sought to distance themselves from the pressure group.
These ministers had earlier turned down the proposal to go to Congress chief, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, as a delegation to persuade her to resolve the Telangana issue.

Stung by T-wrath, KCR resumes fast
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti president, Mr. K. Chandrasekhar Rao, relaunched his hunger strike on Tuesday demanding a separate state following widespread protests from students and party workers across Telangana.
Mr Rao had broken his “fast-unto-death” on Monday evening much to anger of Telangana supporters who termed him a betrayer. In an apparent effort to regain ground, Mr Rao removed the saline drip on Tuesday morning and refused to take food till night.
He reiterated that he was forced to break his fast and demanded an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, for keeping him in “detention”. He also threatened to commit suicide if the police tried to break his fast again. Mr Rao alleged that he was offered orange juice on Monday evening after being “drugged” as part of a conspiracy by the government to thwart his fast. Cops took a video clipping of me taking juice, but did not show pictures where I rejected saline and biscuits,” he said.
“I will continue the fast come what may. More than 50 Greyhounds cops are guarding me and they are not even allowing any attendant. There is a conspiracy to eliminate me,” he added.
Mr Rao sought immediate intervention of the State Human Rights Commission to save him from the clutches of the police.
The prominent Telangana intellectual, Prof. Jayashanker, also alleged that land mafia had hatched a conspiracy to finish off Mr Rao to protect their interests.
With Mr Rao turning down medicines, doctors informed that no purpose would be served by keeping him in hospital. The jailor in turn, filed a petition in the court seeking a direction as to what should be done.
Prof. Jayashanker and other senior party leaders urged the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, to shift Mr Rao immediately to either Warangal or Hyderabad for medicare.
Mr Rao also called up the CM and the DGP, Mr R.R. Girish Kumar, and made a similar demand. However, a Khammam court rejected the plea to shift the TRS leader. In this context, Mr Rao is likely to be sent back to Khammam sub jail again.

Cops then overpowered him and registered a case of attempted suicide in the one town police station in Khammam.
Mr Rao , who re-launched his indefinite fast for a separate Telangana, got up from the hospital bed on Tuesday morning and tried to force his way out saying he wanted to approach the court to be shifted to Warangal or Hyderabad. However, the police refused to let him go, saying that they needed an order from the court to allow him to leave. Mr Rao then jostled with the cops along with other TRS leaders including Mr Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Capt. Laxmikantha Rao and Mr Harish Rao.
In the melee, a window pane broke. Mr Rao picked up a glass piece and threatened to kill himself if police did not let him go. Police took the glass away and led him back to his bed. Mr Nayani Narasimha Reddy suffered minor injuries in the scuffle.
