Bollywood Young Star Gurmeet-Ranveer: Same same
Launched by big production houses Both Gurmeet and Ranveer were launched by big production houses with a three-film deal. Gurmeet made his debut with Vishesh Films' Khamoshiyan and Ranveer forayed into Bollywood with Yash Raj Film's Band Baajaa Baaraat.
Gurmeet and Ranveer are known for their flamboyant styles. Ranveer keeps changing his look off screen as much as he does onscreen. From ripped jeans, open buttoned kurtas, colourful hats, long hair to the bald look, Ranveer has done it all. Gurmeet is new to the game, but his sartorial sense is as quirky. Open-buttoned shirts, hats, waist suits, spectacled look to dhotis (he wore one for an award function!), the TV actor has always stood out for his look.
Both actors are lean and love flaunting their bodies onscreen and off screen. Gurmeet, who is known for his bare bodied avatar in several TV shows, took off his shirt recently on a reality show where he had gone to promote his film! Ranveer's perfect physique was amply displayed in Goliyon Ki Leela, Ram Leela. That's not all. His shirtless avatar has adorned several magazine covers.
Gurmeet who played Ram in Ramayan is married to co-star Debina Bonnerjee and is completely devoted to his off screen Sita. So much so, that he has made it a rule to include Debina in all his films, even if it's for a cameo.
Ranveer has never shied away from talking about his lady love Deepika Padukone. The duo has not only gone on vacations together, Ranveer met Deepika's parents in Bangalore recently. He spent the New Year's with his Ram Leela co-star and even gifted her a collector's edition golden clutch for her birthday.

Delayed payment was my fault: Aamir
Aamir Khan, who got sucked into a controversy for not paying a musical group in a Madhya Pradesh village for using its folk song in his forthcoming production venture 'Peepli Live', regrets that the payment got delayed.

"I won't blame the production for it. I take it as my fault. We were far away in Mumbai. The person who was our line producer knew everyone. He was our front man and he is now associated with some other film shoot and presently is in Canada," said Aamir.
"I sent my production manager to the village to invite them to Mumbai, ask them if they have any complaint and take permission for using the song in the film. I should have done it long before. But as I was subjected to so many things, it slipped my mind. But before the media could reach, we had solved the problem," said Aamir.
It's also been reported that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had asked Aamir to give them the song for their campaign against the skyrocketing prices, but Aamir's office had sternly refused them.
"I didn't get any personal request from anybody, but I think my office got this request and they turned it down saying we are not in business of selling songs. The song is not ours. It's of the 'mandli' and so we had to take proper permission to use the song in the film," said Aamir.
Directed by debutant Anusha Rizvi and slated to hit the screens Aug 13, 'Peepli Live' is a satire on society. It revolves around two impoverished farmers - Natha (Omkar Das Manikpuri) and Budhia (Raghubir Yadav) - who live in a village called Peepli. They are about to lose their land due to their debts.
An incompetent politician suggests they commit suicide to get government help. The news spreads and the media turns Natha into a celebrity.
"The film is not about the farmers. It's a film on rural and urban divide. People like us who live in the cities like Mumbai and Delhi, should get to know little about the realities of India. The film is based on that," said Anusha.
Aamir also said that the film portrays many important issues.
"Yes, I do. I think many things that the film is showing are very crucial and it's similar to my thinking and sensibility so I liked the film. There were many new things that I got to know through this film. I realised many things, which I never thought of. So this film has been a sensitizing experience for me."
This is the fourth film from Aamir Khan Productions Ltd after 'Lagaan: Once Upon A Time In India' (2001), 'Taare Zameen Par'(2007) and 'Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na'(2008).

Pooja Bhatt says 'Thank You' is hers
Pooja Bhatt is upset with UTV that they have not changed the name of their Anees Bazmee film from Thank You, even though the title is registered with her. Pooja has plans to remake her father's film Arth and call it Thank You. Initially, Pooja thought that Thank You was only Anees's working title and so did not object. However, when she realized that it is not the case, she informed the Association Of Motion Pictures And TV Programme Producers (AMTPP) about it. The association then informed UTV, but the producers are yet to change the title. Pooja is in no mood to give up the title and so UTV has been left with no choice but to change it.

Salman says 'No' to Anil
Tales of brotherhood fly out of the window when it comes to business. Salman Khan has very good relations with the Kapoors — Boney and Anil. He was part of their No Entry, Wanted and is supposedly part of No Entry 2 whenever it happens. But it isn’t as if the benevolent Salman is constantly in a mood to oblige the Kapoors.
Trade sources say that Anil Kapoor’s rip-roaring comedy No Problem is ready for release and Anil wanted it to come on September 10, as the date coincides with Eid. This date has always proved to be lucky at the box office.
However, Salman’s Dabbang is releasing on that date too. In fact, Dabbang was always meant to be an Eid release as the trade believes in the super-combo of Salman and this festival.
Last year, Boney released Wanted on Eid and the film was hugely successful especially in single screens. This year, too, Sohail Khan, part producer of Dabbang, wants to cash in on this date. So when Anil approached him and asked him to shift his release date by a week so that he could bring his Anees Bazmee film out on that date, Sohail refused point blank.
Now Anil will release No Problem on December 3. Anil, however, maintains, “Salman is like a younger brother. It is true that we were earlier toying with the idea of coming on September 10. But it doesn’t make sense for two big films to clash on the same date. I’m super confident about my No Problem because it is a Anees Bazmee film. And everyone connected to the trade thinks it is a perfect December movie.”

Here's a first look at the Hrithik and Zoya Akhtar's film in Spain
Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin are in Spain shooting Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The cast is filming most of the scenes in and around Madrid.
A few fans got a chance to get up close and personal with the actors and take pictures with them while they were shooting.
Recently the actors shot a scene depicting them having a mock fight with tomatoes on the streets of Spain. The scene is inspired by the annual La Tomatina event in Bunol near Valencia.
The highlight of the festival is the tomato fight which takes place between 11am and 1pm on that day. The event has become one of the highlights on Spain's summer festival calendar with thousands of people flocking to this little Valencian town.
Both Katrina and Hrithik were drenched in tomato pulp and had a great time shooting the scene. With Sussanne Roshan joining the team, the cast keeps themselves busy indulging in adventure sports and playing board games.

Hrithik, not Abhishek to star in 'Agneepath' remake
Anyone would think that Abhishek Bachchan would be the natural choice to play Amitabh Bachchan's role in a Agneepath remake. However, Hrithik Roshan has been roped in to play the part in the new-age Agneepath, while Mithun Chakraborty's award winning character has been completely done away with.
"When the idea of re-making Agneepath came to producer Karan Johar, he right away locked in on Hrithik Roshan. It was a commitment to the actor, who is very keen to give his own interpretation to the character," a source revealed.
In fact, it was presumed by a very large section of the entertainment industry that Abhishek would play the eponymous part of Vijay Dinanath Chauvan. And Jaya Bachchan would play Vijay's mother, played with brilliant poignancy by Rohini Hattangadi in the cult original directed by the late Mukul Anand.
However, contrary to popular opinion, Abhishek was never offered the role in the remake.
"Hrithik will play it closer to Al Pacino in Scarface than Mr. Bachchan in Agneepath," says a source.
Agneepath, it would be recalled, was deeply influenced by Scarface. The remake, written and directed by debutant Karan Malhotra purports to pay homage to Scarface.
While refusing to discuss the cast, producer Karan Johar says, "All I can say is that my Agneepath is radically different from the Agneepath that my (late) father (Yash Johar) produced. We've completely done away with the south Indian character played by Mithun Chakraborty in the original."
With that information, Mithun's dreams of seeing his son Mimoh cast on the role he originally played also goes up in flames.
Karan Johar's Agneepath would be a solo act featuring Roshan Jr, who will experiment with the rasping dialogue-delivery that Big B had attempted in the original 1990's gangster film.
Many thought that it was his gravelly way of speaking in Agneepath that made the movie a hit. But, Hrithik is determined to prove all the self-appointed soothsayers wrong.
"My father was very proud of Agneepath. I hope I don't let him down with my version of the film. Amit-ji had won the National award for it, it's a tough act to follow for any actor," Karan says.

Kat gets dirty with Hrithik Roshan!
Bollywood stars have all the fun when they are shooting overseas. If they had the same masti on the sets of some filmi studio here in Mumbai, they would invariably get romantically linked with each other.
So is the case with Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan. The two along with the rest of the cast of Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, are having a blast in Spain. They were out on the streets of Spain smashing tomatoes on each other at the annual Tomato festival that was held there.
“I had only heard about it, but now I got to experience it. The ritual brings in good luck. People from all over the world come to witness it. I had a lot of fun,” she said from Spain. Unfortunately, the one who missed out on all the fun was Mrs Roshan. Sussanne, who is also there, didn’t want to participate in it as the smell of rotting tomato pulp was driving her crazy. But other than her, nobody’s complaining!

It's raining movies in the month of July:A Complete List
Never mind the big flops, July is the month to look forward to new fresh movies. 'I Hate Luv Storys' directed by debutant Puneet Malhotra', will hit the theatres on July 2. Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor are romancing each other on-screen for the first time.
Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor starrer 'Milenge Milenge' hits the theatres on July 9. The film is directed by Satish Kaushik and the movie has been stuck for a while. Curious to see the once upon a time love birds together again on screen.
Red Alert
The film is directed by Anant Mahadevan and releases on July 9. The film stars Vinod Khanna, Suniel Shetty, Naseruddin Shah, Sameera Reddy, Bhagyashree, Gulshan Grover and many more.
Lamhaa
After 'Parzania', director Rahul Dholakia returns with 'Lamhaa' starring Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu and Kunal Kapoor. Highlighting the issues in Kashmir, the film hits the silver screen on July 16.

Hrithik is the sexiest male star: Imran
He’s the proverbial chocolate cream star next door who makes a million nubile hearts beat faster. Post the action thriller, Luck, Imran Khan returns to the big screen with Sonam Kapoor in I Hate Luv Storys (IHLS).
But he’s not taking a break just yet and is currently shooting in Mauritius with Deepika Padukone for Break Ke Baad. “I’m enjoying my schedule in Mauritius. I know the place like the back of my hand,” says the young actor in a telephonic interview with Hyderabad Times. Excerpts
Your fans seem to prefer seeing you in teeny bopper films ...
I’m aware of the fact that the success I received is due to that particular fan base who loved Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. As an actor you have to keep your fans happy and satisfied from time to time with such films. When they buy a movie ticket, I want them to feel I’m a good investment.
So is the actor in you creatively satisfied while you try to do movies to please the fans?
See, one can’t always do movies to please their fan base or do films solely for creative satisfaction. Right now, my career is in such a place that I absolutely need to find a balance between the two. I can’t possibly make films only for creative and intellectual satisfaction. I can make a home movie to satisfy that aspect of it. In the movie biz it’s important to do different stuff time and again. Post Jaane Tu ... I did Kidnap and Luck, unfortunately they didn’t work out. No problem. Now I’m doing something different again. I think I’m in the process of finding a balance.
Are you returning to a genre that’s in your comfort zone in your next films?
As an actor you don’t really look at comfort zones, because it’s your job to do something different every time. After Kidnap and Luck, I was physically and emotionally drained. They were heavy films. That’s when I decided on doing something which was fun and I signed IHLS. I play a cheeky character and the film overall is a cheeky one. But yes, I’m happy to be doing something which is light, breezy and fun.
You have mostly worked with young and new directors in all of your films
It’s not a conscious decision. It just happens that all my films have first-time directors or young filmmakers. But having worked with them, I’ve realised it’s so much fun. Our wavelengths match and our tastes and thought processes are the same. It makes the working relationship very smooth. When I do a film, I want to enjoy the process of film making. Having worked with Abbas (Tyrewala), Punit (Malhotra) or Soham, I have been able to do that and as young people, these directors push you creatively, which I think is great. It’s not like I don’t see myself working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Ashutosh Gowarikar. But there’s still time for that.
You come from the young crop of actors who have given Indian cinema a different look and dimension
The transformation takes place every once a while in Indian cinema. But the change is not just driven by one or two actors. There are so many young directors in the industry with fresh and novel ideas; there are producers who want to invest in films like these and actors who believe in the script. The industry has its watershed moments where new blood is pumped in. Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman ushered in a different era in cinema. Now it’s happening with people like me, Ranbir (Kapoor) and Abhay (Deol).
Talking about Ranbir, seems like almost everyone from the industry wants to sign you guys together for a film.
When Ranbir and I hosted the Filmfare Awards in 2009, it was a huge hit. Everyone in the film industry was talking about it. Even the audience loved the pairing. I’m aware of the expectations that people have from the two of us. Keeping that in mind, we are looking at doing a film together only when we find the appropriate script. Unfortunately, right now there is nothing that excites us.
What about your pairing with your female co-stars? How conscious are you about that?
See, I don’t believe in the concept of jodis per se. For sometime now, unconventional pairing has worked well at the BO. But yes, I am conscious about who my co-star is to the extent that she suits the role and can act. That’s all.
How important is it to be known as a bankable star?
I think it’s extremely important, even for me. A producer pays the star his fee to guarantee an opening at the BO. Friday, Saturday and Sunday totally depends on the star. Monday onwards it’s the script that will take the film forward. So if the producer, director or even technician can earn well from the film, thanks to the star, then there is no beating you.
You’ve always been very open about your relationship with Avantika ...
Today, people don’t really care if an actor is in a relationship or not. Look at the top actors of our industry. SRK and Aamir have been married for the longest time and have kids as well, but the audience loves them. Hrithik Roshan is the sexiest man in Indian cinema and he too has been married for a long time. I don’t believe in hiding my relationship status.
So when’s the wedding?
Not this year for sure because I don’t have the time. My schedule is totally packed. Though Avantika and I haven’t locked in on a date as yet, but in all probability we’ll get married next year. See, I want to have the time in hand to enjoy my wedding and get involved in the whole preparation.

When Ranbir and I hosted the Filmfare Awards in 2009, it was a huge hit. Everyone in the film industry was talking about it. Even the audience loved the pairing. I’m aware of the expectations that people have from the two of us. Keeping that in mind, we are looking at doing a film together only when we find the appropriate script. Unfortunately, right now there is nothing that excites us.
What about your pairing with your female co-stars? How conscious are you about that?
See, I don’t believe in the concept of jodis per se. For sometime now, unconventional pairing has worked well at the BO. But yes, I am conscious about who my co-star is to the extent that she suits the role and can act. That’s all.
How important is it to be known as a bankable star?
I think it’s extremely important, even for me. A producer pays the star his fee to guarantee an opening at the BO. Friday, Saturday and Sunday totally depends on the star. Monday onwards it’s the script that will take the film forward. So if the producer, director or even technician can earn well from the film, thanks to the star, then there is no beating you.
You’ve always been very open about your relationship with Avantika ...
Today, people don’t really care if an actor is in a relationship or not. Look at the top actors of our industry. SRK and Aamir have been married for the longest time and have kids as well, but the audience loves them. Hrithik Roshan is the sexiest man in Indian cinema and he too has been married for a long time. I don’t believe in hiding my relationship status.
So when’s the wedding?
Not this year for sure because I don’t have the time. My schedule is totally packed. Though Avantika and I haven’t locked in on a date as yet, but in all probability we’ll get married next year. See, I want to have the time in hand to enjoy my wedding and get involved in the whole preparation.

Madhur Bhandarkar can't say no to Bal Thackeray
Director Madhur Bhandarkar has turned actor. And he was teased mercilessly by his co-stars Dimple Kapadia and Sarika who ganged up against poor Madhur for as long as he shot. Agreed, he did walk on parts in Ram Gopal Varma’s Rangeela and his own film Fashion. But in Rahul Dholakia’s Society, for the first time Madhur has a clearly-etched part with a character who speaks lines.
Madhur, who shot for the film on Tuesday, says it was on producer Smita Thackeray’s insistence. “My first reaction was to refuse. I can’t act! But nobody says no to Smitaji. Besides, she told me I had to play myself. Also the director Rahul Dholakia is a dear friend. I really liked his work in Parzania.” But it was the cast that finally clinched it for Madhur.
“When I heard I had scenes with Om Puriji, Dimple Kapadiaji, Sarikaji and Seema Biswaji, I felt I had reached heaven. I mean….My god! These are stalwarts I grew up worshipping and watching. I never thought I’d be acting with them one day.” Madhur plays himself, the director Madhur Bhandarkar, who comes to the housing society to research on a film he’s making on the water scarcity in Mumbai.
The fun part was the endless ribbing Madhur underwent in the hands of the playful duo Dimple Kapadia and Sarika. “They insisted on running to the monitor to watch my shots and comment on them. It was like a dream come true to be working in front of the camera with these two beautiful actresses,” says Madhur.
And now Madhur wants to cast Dimple and Sarika in his next film, a romantic comedy which he is going to start in July ahead of the film he plans to make with Kareena Kapoor in September. Quips Madhur, “I had a walk-on parts in Rangeela and Fashion. Both were hits. I hope I prove the lucky mascot in Society. Then I can start charging money for my screen appearances.”

Watch Housefull in theatres or get arrested Warning
Trying to save money by downloading ''Housefull'' from the Internet can land you in prison as the multi-starrer comedy is the first Indian film with an in-built anti-piracy software. The comedy which stars a host of A-listers including Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal, Riteish Deshmukh and Jiah Khan will use a software called Republique to track down offenders.
"There is a call centre in Mumbai with 35 people who are keeping a close watch on the Internet and we have already tried the software. So I am warning everybody if you try to download ''Housefull'' you will be arrested," said the film''s director Sajid Khan who was in the city to promote the film along with the star cast.
Online piracy is the bane of the industry and a recent report revealed that in 2008, piracy cost the Indian film industry USD 959 million and about 571,000 jobs. The makers of ''Housefull'' meanwhile are confident of a bumper hit with Khan saying that by yesterday the film had already broken records of advanced bookings in small screen theatres.
"''Housefull'' got record collections when the advance bookings began in small screen theatres yesterday. It is an open challenge to all filmmakers to try and beat the record of my film which will be 2010''s highest grosser," said Khan.
Apart from a scintillating star cast, the film also boasts of a climax set in the Buckingham Palace with the Queen and Prince Charles. "In the climax Akshay Kumar''s character accidentally spills laughing gas in the entire Buckingham Palace and everyone from the Queen to the butler are laughing their heads off," said the director.

with Maxican actress Barbara Mori in his forthcoming film Kites. As if that is not enough, he is going to act with yet another Hollywood star – a much bigger star. She is non other than the Twilight fame Kirsten Stewart.
Yes, you heard it right. The news is doing the rounds that Shekhar Kapur is roping in Kristen Stewart to act with Hrithik in his next film Paani. Kristen acted with Robert Pattinson in Twilight and its sequel New Moon. She is awaiting the release of Eclipse.
Sources said that Shekhar was looking for a girl to play a wealthy beauty for his film. So, he approached Kristen for the role, and surprisingly, she gave the green signal, provided the terms and conditions are met. Shekhar revealed that he would make Paani this year but refused to talk about its cast. He is not in the mood to speak about the film till everything is finalised.

Bachchans would kill me, if I'd cast Vivek in Sarkar 3
Ram Gopal Varma is one filmmaker who always makes the kind of film he believes in. The flamboyant director is does exactly what he pleases without caring about the consequences.
Be it the hype surrounding his controversial flicks like Nishabh or Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag or his alleged closeness to starlets like Priyanka Kothari, the man is undeterred. He also speaks his mind and doesn't mince words.
Ramu, as he is fondly called, is in the public eye lately post his recent release Phoonk 2. The film was a debacle to say the least and received brickbats galore. Not only does RGV remain unfazed, but also stoutly defends his film. This has brought his next Rakta Charitra, under the scanner.
The film stars his protégée Vivek Oberoi. The two will work together for the first time since Ramu launched Vivek in Company in 2002.
This is prompted certain sections of the media to report that Vivek is also being considered for Ramu's Sarkar 3. Sarkar and its sequel Sarkar Raj have been among Varma's most successful films so far.
He recently spoken about the uproar created about this. He reported said that he wouldn't dare to cast Vivek in Sarkar 3 for fear of the Bachchan's reaction. He even remarked that they would kill him if he were to do such a thing!
It was in jest but it sure looked like the fearless Ramu was afraid of certain repercussions regarding casting Vivek!

Sonam and Imran's romance gets 'dirty'
It so happened that the duo was filming a romantic song in New Zealand’s countryside and were supposed to run to each other, and fall into a long embrace. Sonam was then asked to lean on Imran’s arms, reminding the audience of the signature Raj Kapoor-Nargis Dutt pose from the RK movies.
Director Punit Malhotra wasn’t impressed with the first few takes, so he asked Imran and Sonam to lend more grace to the move, which tired out Imran.
However, it ended up being a total disaster as Sonam rushed into his arms and Imran leaned back with a little gush of enthusiasm, thus losing his grip. Both the actors lost their balance and came down with a thud.
To make matters worse, Sonam fell on some cow dung left back by a cattle grazing nearby. Poor Sonam had to immediately rush for a shower. The only saving grace was that the actress’ costume, which got spoilt in the bargain, was not needed in any other shots.
Guess magic like Raj Kapoor's can't be created, it just happens on it's own!
