I don't believe in size zero: Deepika Padukone

Actress Kareena Kapoor is known for her size zero as much as her love life and acting prowess. But here is one actor who doesn’t believe in size zero, and she is Deepika Padukone.


Yes, Deepika said that she is not a size zero and doesn’t believe in it. She added that Indian body type doesn’t suit it. She went on to say that it's nice to be little full and have a nice shape.


She said that body size doesn’t matter in the film industry, and what really matters is performance. She added that it is important to wear clothes that go well with one’s body, as the cut and fabric make a lot of difference.

Well, we all know that Deepika is blessed to have a wonderful body!

Bollywood’s ‘sunshine girl’ Deepika Padukone has every reason to celebrate. With her career going great guns and some exciting films in her kitty, the leggy beauty is now looking to consolidate her position in B-Town. “I’ve always been driven by work and variety attracts me,” confesses Deepika.

“I’ve never been afraid of doing something just because it’s different. In fact, each role that I have portrayed on screen so far has been in stark contrast from the other,”she avers.

For someone who made news right from her much-talked about Bollywood launchpad opposite Shah Rukh Khan (in Om Shanti Om), Deepika continues to make for some good headlines. Her current offering (Karthik Calling Karthik) too made news much before it hit the theatres. Movie buffs went full throttle about the unusual pairing between her and leading man Farhan Akhtar, some to the extent of even romantically linking the two together. “Who defines what’s usual and unusual? I don’t see how Farhan and I are any different from the other on-screen jodis in terms of complimenting each other. If two actors are cast opposite one another it’s because they suit their particular roles and make a good on-screen pair. Initially, I was intimidated by Farhan. But then I saw he was so chilled out and just like the other leading men I’ve worked with —fun and focused.”

Deepika’s portrayal as the new age girl in many flicks has endeared her to the audience. Her last big screen outing, Love Aaj Kal struck BO gold and redefined Bollywood romance. “I always knew that the movie will have an impact on the audience,” says Deepika. Speaking on how the film still has an impact on her, Deepika says, “In real life too, I’m a lot like Meera, I’m always surrounded by my friends. And I think I see relationships just the way Meera does. See, when in a romantic relationship everything (else) takes a backseat. In our lives, there are times when you realise that though you love a certain person a lot, you can’t live with him. Nothing in life makes sense. Like me, a lot of young people have been able to relate to all that Meera went through in LAK quite a bit and may have experienced a lot of those emotions/experiences,” she confesses.

From playing independent and outgoing characters, Deepika is now switching gears to period films and comedy — something she has never done before. “I’m playing Kaplana Dutta in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Khelenge Jee Jaan Se. It’s a completely different world and at the same time a very important part of history. It’s a great responsibility for someone like me and I have to do justice to the character,” quips the actor.

Sajid Khan’s Houseful is already creating a buzz (thanks to the sizzling bikini bod that Deepika flaunts) and she’s excited too. “Comedy is the toughest thing to do. Especially Sajid’s brand of comedy where you have a tough time enacting a scene because you just can’t control your laughter,” she says with palpable excitement.

Considering that she’s been part of many hit films, does she see her paycheque looking better? “To a large extent, yes. But having said that, I would also like to clarify that my price never defines the kind of work I do.” And with many Best Actor (female) nominations coming her way, does she hope to walk away with an award this year? “Awards are important. They mean recognition and appreciation of the hard work you’ve done. If I win then well, but if I don’t then I’m not going to sit and sulk. I’ll be back with better films the following year,” she ends on a positive note.

Imran Khan, Deepika Imran Khan and a love story!

Before you begin to read too much in the headline, let’s burst the bubble. Deepika Padukone may have apparently split from Ranbir Kapoor, but she’s yet to rediscover love.

To overcome the break-up blues the lissome lass is learnt to be sinking herself into work so that the matters of heart no longer trouble her. She recently signed a film with director Ashutosh Gowariker. And now, she’s given her consent to a movie with none other than Imran Khan, Ranbir’s best buddy.

Deepika and Imran will pair up for a yet-untitled film to be produced by Kunal Kohli, whose last directorial effort Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic was a spectacular disaster at the box office.

The new movie, a full-on love story, will mark the directorial debut of Kunal’s assistant Danish Aslam. Shooting is expected to begin early next year.

While Ranbir has already worked with most popular actresses, Imran Khan is yet to do a film with an actress from the top league. He almost missed working with Katrina Kaif in director Sanjay Gadhvi’s shelved project ‘7 days in Paris’. Now, a film with Deepika would surely do a lot of good to Imran’s career.

Deepika Padukone reunites with Yuvraj Singh

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone who recently broke up with beau Ranbir Kapoor reunited with her ex-beau Yuvraj Singh after almost two years. Well before you widen your eyes let us clear the air that no romantic sparks have been re-ignited between the two. The Om Shanti Om actress performed at that Sahara Indian Sports Awards in Mumbai in presence of the Men in Blue including the prince charming Yuvraj Singh.

The two exchanged smile when they came together on stage. Also present at that time was Mahendra Singh Dhoni whom Deepika was once said to be very fond off. It may be recalled that Deepika and Yuvraj had started going around during India's tour to Australia in early 2008. She was spotted among the crowd in many matches but Ranbir snatched her from Yuvi's life. Now with the Ranbir chapter closed Deepika and Yuvraj might try to reignite their romantic flame again.

Love Aaj Kal courts controversy

Saif Ali Khan's Love Aaj Kal, which is all set to release on July 31, seems to have run into troubled waters with the Sikh community.

But it looks like that the actor is leaving no stone unturned, so he along with his production team held a special screening of the film for members of the Sikh community.

The Sikh community had raised objections to Saif's trimmed beard in the film plus a few scenes set in the Gurudwara.

"We decided to have this special screening for them because we feel that they are representatives of a larger community. We didn't want to offend anybody," said Imtiaz Ali, Director.

Charanjeet Sapra, President, Punjabi Cultural and Heritage Board says people had objections to the length of Saif's beard and other romantic scenes shot in the Gurudwara. He said they would inform the filmmakers know by Friday over the issue.

But in spite of that Saif and his team seem to be optimistic. "I think they liked the film. They will let us know by Friday," said Saif.

Seems like the cast and crew of Love Aaj Kal will have to take one Friday at a time at this rate.

Deepika gets hot in an item number

If Deepika Padukone had taken this move two years ago, you would understand, but why now after having established herself in Bollywood? This pretty girl has taken film lovers by surprise, as she has plunged into Telugu movies, that too in a hot item number, while the actresses down south are making a beeline to enter Bollywood.


South Indian actresses like Asin Thottumkal, Genelia D'Souza, Shreya Saran and others are still trying to find a strong foothold in Bollywood though they are big names down south. They are rejecting films from south in order to concentrate on Hindi cinema but Deepika is doing just the opposite. She is doing a hot item number in Love 4 Ever, a bilingual film in Telugu and Hindi.


Yes, Deepika rose to fame with her Bollywood debut film Om Shanti Om though she had earlier acted in a Kannada film titled Aishwarya. She consolidated her position with Bachna Ae Haseeno. Her next film Chandni Chowk to China failed but she is all set to return in a big way with Love Aaj Kal opposite Saif Ali Khan. At this critical juncture, she decided to return to south.

In spite of her busy schedule in Bollywood, Deepika shot for the item song “Chakde Mahiya need Duniya.. Haddu dati aadey day and night” for Love 4 Ever starring debutants Randeep and Mrudula in the lead roles. Love 4 Ever, produced and directed by Jayant C. Paranji, is basically a Telugu film though it will be simultaneously made in Hindi.

Sources said that Deepika has given a sizzling performance in the item number, which is one of the major highlights of the film. People just can't stop talking about her hot and sexy attire.
